Well at this point you look at the coaches too. What the hell does Tucker have to do to get fired? A historically bad season last year followed a complete disaster this year, punctuated by back to back losses in which the opponents combined for almost 100 points. This is the DC of a win now team comprised of veteran players?

Good point. Part of the reason the defense is poor is because we have 20 million in cap space dedicated to our shitty QB.

Not disagreeing entirely but no amount of extra money will fix the dumbassery that is what happens when the bears play "defense." All that confusion and incompetence starts with the coaches.

The incompetence certainly does. I would also argue that no defensive coach could make this squad "good." Maybe better but not good.

Chris Conte was lined up as a linebacker the other day when Tim Jennings was running cover 2 and Jordy Nelson was running wide open 40 yards downfield. Tucker should have been fired after that PLAY.

Nas, how much of that is due to garbage time bullshit stats due to the Bears losing by a metric fucking ton before the 1st half is over?

It was only 1 game and every quarterback has stats that come from blowouts. No one took away Manning's numbers after the Patriots game. Since we won't take away Cutler's hailmary interception or his fumbles when they were down big we can't exclude a half of stats.

What was the excuse last year? They actually reworked Cutler's contract to sign defensive players.

Briggs should have been benched after that play. It was completely his fault and he said so. Urlacher made his job so much easier.

Dont they have something like 7 first half points the last 3 games? That has nothing to do with the defense being shitty. Maybe if the O could put some fucking points on the board and keep the other teams offense of the field for awhile, the games wouldn't be over by halftime. Guess thats not on Cutler though.

It's Trestman's fault for calling predictable plays and the receivers fault for not being open.

This seems an opportune to remind everyone that Nas referred to Brandon Marshall as "a likely HOFer" less than four months ago.

He's become a different player since then. Earlier in the season I blamed it on an injury but it's pretty clear that his play has declined dramatically and his assholiness is at an all time high.

Lets hope that the reports today about the Bears talking with other teams about trading Jay are true.

If they continue this slide, maybe they've got their eye on a high first-round draft pick QB. Probably not the greatest crop coming out of the colleges this time, though -- and the Raiders will be getting the #1 pick obviously.

Do you ever notice that every time a national guy talks about Cutler, they start by talking about how physically talented he is before saying he's not living up to it?

I think there is veiled racism in those words.

Kaepernick and Newton are both more physically gifted than Cutler, and yet they always start by saying how he might be the most physically gifted in the league and yet they go on to compare him to the best white quarterbacks in the league.

Beardown, what do you think?

He made some really good plays with his feet and his arm yesterday. He also threw 2 horrible INTs, fumbled again, and had a few other passes that were poorly thrown. So basically he has yet to play a solid 60 minutes this season.

If the Vikings had just a little bit better of an offense, they might have won yesterday.

What is considered a solid 60 minutes?

Don't feel bad. Rodgers hasn't played a solid 60 minute game in weeks either.

Damn you FF

Putting up the numbers he did yesterday with 0 turnovers. Yesterday was not his best by any means. The Bears had 430some yards of offense, 38 minutes TOP, and only managed 21 points. Yes part of that is on the coach, but even if they kick the FG on 4th down rather than run a stupid play they only get 24 points.

Bears were good enough to beat a team with a rookie QB and an anemic offense yesterday, but they were not that good overall.

I was just curious. You do realize that he didn't turn the ball over in 3 victories and IIRC had more passing yards in 1.

Basically whatever not only Cutler but the entire team did yesterday is irrelevant. They're done for the year due to poor play across the board for the whole season, so whatever highlights they rack up against afterthoughts like the Vikings is not worthy of discussion.

It's interesting that in the four wins this year that defense gave up 20 points or less.

I guess the defense has won the four games this year!

17/27 130 Yards 1 TD and 4.7 YPA with an 87 passer rating.

Against the Bucs.

LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE @DAN_BERNSTEIN GROAN WITH THOUGHTS OF LISTENER GENTRIFICATION: I WAS AT THE GAME TODAY, SO MY THOUGHTS HAVE A LITTLE MORE WEIGHT AND PRIORITY THAN YOURS BORNE OF TV-LAND. THANK YOU.

that said, holy fucking shit the offense was bad. atrocious. even tho they won pretty easily after spotting them an early 10-0 lead (akin to arsenal in the earliest part/s of the season, and well technically yesterday vs maanutd(sic)) it was still only because tampa played some dumbass football that had me wondering if MICK COW-NNNNN had a couple plays where he was like "i shouldn't throw this ball but FUCK IT the bears brought me back into the NFL and got me a 10mil contract and we aint going to no playoffs in fact this will help our draft pick so *heaves it* THANK YOU TRESTY!!!!! IT WAS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU IN A REMOTE RALEIGH NC CABIN DURING A DARK STORMY NIGHT AND HAVE YOU LOOK INTO MY EYES AND THUS MY SOUL AND SEE THAT I WAS INDEED A MAN YOU CAN WIN FOOTBALL GAMES WITH.

cuz yeah.... that fumble to set up the 3rd TD was just OMFG bad.... especially after MICK COW-NNNNNN had ALL. FUCKING. DAY. (i'd make the text flash for extra emphasis if i could) to throw the ball to whoever he wanted to. it was a cruel and sick joke and you just get the feeling that they are fucking TOAST when they play a real team

I think what I like most about Cutler is the boyhood enthusiasm he has for football.

Cutler's QB rating was 0.0 after the 1st period, 2.4 after the 2nd period, & 55.8 for the game.

Brutal.
