How do you feel about Mariano's exclusive deal with Boar's Head, DB? I was a big Dietz & Watson fan. Sad to see them go.

When did they start having Boar's Head at Marioano's? I don't think I have ever seen it at my local location. Although, the wife usually gets all the stuff at the deli counter, so maybe I just haven't noticed it.

yea i've only been to one Marianos (the new oak lawn one) but they did not have Boars head .

the Pete's Fresh Market in Evergreen Park does though
screw Dietz and Watson and all that other garbage- Boars Head or go home

and they always have one variety of turkey/chicken/ham on sale, so if you're not super picky you can always get one for ~6.99/lb

Agreed.

I went there on the recommendation of a couple people and was severely disappointed. The name has to be a joke too.

It's not cheap either. Predatory BBQ!

BBQ cant go chain. 2 locations is tough to manage the quality of the product. Making BBQ, storing it for sale, tough balancing act.

Almost invested in it from Day 1, he got a few sports radio guys...Rosenbloom, Shuster, he uses my architect, but see too many of these deals tank and if they dont own the real estate, no reason to put the money in.

I was there two Sundays ago (and yesterday). They had a bunch of balloons up to celebrate the introduction of Boar's Head. That's all they sell now, save for a few Roundy's meat/cheese products.

Tall Midget is most assuredly NOT a Boar's Head fan.

Especially if they're building it out -- if they're the second guys to go in, then you can consider it.

Not much of a "BBQ guy" but I I like RUBBQ.

Don't come here. You'll just fuck up our traffic anyway.

newper, well played

in my younger days, did many bar/tavern/dining deals. Most people dont recognize the 60% of the buildout costs going into venting, plumbing, electric...so before they know it 50% of the budget is gone just to adhere to the code.

let someone else put in the code work, when they fail, you jump in.

I tried the one in Oak Brook....if you like very bland BBQ this is your place.
I don't see them lasting long in this location with so many better food options in this area.

I go to the Roti that's next door, and the smokey smell is totally present inside. I like BBQ smell, but I doubt the people who run Roti enjoy it 24/7.

It's BBQ for people that don't like BBQ. They'll do fine there.
