Picked it up this morning before work. I'm up for the midnight releases, but by the time you get home and install it it's 1AM it isn't worth it. I miss just popping a game in and playing it immediately. It was fun enough on PS3, not sure why I felt I needed it on release day, but whatever.

Last two games where I normally would have done a midnight release I pre-downloaded it on the Xbox...wasn't able to play it until 2CST but when I opened the game, it was ready...was especially handy for the Master Chief collection since everyone who bought the disc version had to wait to download the absurd 20+ GB update once they got home.

Unsurprisingly it looks absolutely gorgeous on the PS4. Can only guess how gorgeouserer it'll look on a top PC.

So I decided to give GTA another try after deciding that I didn't like Vice City and would never play another GTA game.

Needed a game for my XBOX1 since I don't have any....got this and played it for a few hours. So far I like it. Driving is really sensitive, having a hard time not crashing all over the place, but I think I'm getting better.

I like the fact that you can switch from FPS to 3PS anytime. I've been driving in 3rd, running in 3rd and then switching to 1st for all combat. Is there a way to get a better target reticle than that stupid white dot??? Half the time I am trying to find the dot on screen before I can even aim it.

The best part of this game is that you can skip missions that you are struggling with. Had a mission early on where you have to rescue the guy's kid off the boat being stolen. You need to steer the car, use the gas pedal, aim your gun, and fire your gun...how is that even humanly possible??? So after failing it a few times I got the option to skip it and that's what I did.

I'll tell you one thing, my wife was thoroughly entertained just watching me play. She's easily entertained..as long as I kept running over pedestrians, stealing nice cars, or punching ladies walking down the street she was crying laughing.

So far so good...a little intimidated by the scope of the game. Any tips for a new player? Should I tackle certain missions first or do other stuff?

Driving and shooting and the same time is brutal, your best bet is to just aim the gun first and then just adjust the car to aim at the target rather than doing both. It's such an open world game there isn't anything to worry about sequence wise. If you plan to play through to they end and want to buy everything, you do have to save the assassination missions until after you get the big score.

I assume the game will prod me along in terms of all the different things I can do/buy or do I have to just go find that stuff on my own?

How do you guys play this game? Did you start out doing a bunch of story missions or do you go out and do other stuff right off the bat?

I tried to find the Jewish Mob but I had killed them all in GTA IV.

Fuck Isaac Roth.

How do you lose the cops when you have 3 stars? Im doing the jewel heist and need to steal a police van which I can do, but then I have ot lose the cops and helicopters, but I have no clue how to do it. I just drive around crashing into shit cause its hard to drive in teh first place and then I eventually get killed when my van gets stuck. Any tips for doing that?

Also, is it a big deal if I skip some missions that are optional? Playing as Michael I already had to deal with his son and daughter and the entire time I was wishing for the mission to be over cause those kids are so annoying. then I get a call from the wife who's in trouble and I just ignored it, I'm done dealing with those people.

Also had a mission where I had to go race some chick jogging. Tried it 3x before I could even finish the race cause the controls suck so much and then my guy almost had a heart attack and I lost the race. My fucking thumb felt like I was back in 1987 playing track n field on my NES. Do i want to try again? Fuck that. I'll never be doing that stupid mission again.

So in general is it ok to skip the missions that are really stupid? So far that seems to be about 80% of the missions, but hopefully they will improve.

Also, should I be buying stuff like guns and ammo? I have no clue and the game doesn't really prod you along in that regard. Looked at a walkthrough and it suggested I buy a shot gun or assault rifle before taking on the police van, but I just used my pistol and it worked.

You should just give up video games, and probably fantasy football too.

I don't buy many guns and ammo, but when I'm fucking around I don't usually get into fire fights, I just drive. The usual way to lose a helicopter is outrun it and then hide under viaducts. There's a lot of them in southern Los Santos by the docks and airport. Once you get out of the cop vision cones, stop and only move if they're coming at you. The helicopter won't see you though if you're under something.

If you don't by guns and ammo how do you get them? I already upgraded my pistol, was that a waste of money?
