Swift, decisive action. Great coach. Plus , it should help Le'Veon Bell's drug tests.

Pittsburgh Steelers player LeGarrette Blount left the field and attempted to exit the stadium before Monday night's game, a 27-24 win against the Tennessee Titans, was over, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

He was released on Tuesday, the team announced.

Blount, a running back who signed a two-year, $3.9 million contract last spring, has seen his role in the offense steadily diminish in recent weeks. On Monday night he didn't get a single carry, which reportedly led to his walk-off.

He dressed and left the locker room, apparently headed for the team bus that would take them to the airport. At least one player thought they should leave him in Nashville.

Blount has been an internal problem for at least a month for the Steelers and sources told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he is dragging down star halfback Le’Veon Bell, even though that obviously was not the case Monday night when Bell ran 33 times for 204 yards.

According to TribLive.com, assistant coach Joey Porter was able to stop Blount and get him back to the locker room before he got onto the bus.

After the game, ESPN sent cameras into the Steelers locker room. Blount was fully dressed by the time the team came in after the game (via ESPN):

Blount spent three years in Tampa Bay before reviving his career with a solid season in New England in 2013. The Patriots let him walk after that season, and he landed with Pittsburgh. Instead of being part of a two-headed rushing attack on the Steelers, Bell has blossomed into a star player and eaten up most of the carries. Blount has five carries for no yards in his past two games, including Monday night's performance of zero carries for zero yards in Nashville.

Nomination denied. Decisions like that are easy to make when you don't have to deal with an exceptional locker room full of leaders of men.

Agreed the only coach in the NFL that wouldn't have done anything is Trestman

This appears to be the anti Trestman move . Good for him . If I were Trestman I would have also approved Briggs skipping practice to open a restaurant, but I would have also said he shouldn't bother showing up to the next practice as well . , .

I don't know what the fuss is ... he allegedly tried to rape a couple of broads, he didn't knock them around.

Make the fourth word the sixth word and it makes your sentence Ben's alleged drunken barroom bathroom interrogatory premise ...

He'll be begging for change in a few years, more likely.

Oh come on.

Yes, usually punching someone in that situation is wrong. But look at that guy's face. Blount had no choice.

I cannot remember the specifics of the game but I do remember seeing the punch.

Boise upset Oregon in an early season nationally televised game that got pretty chippy. Boise was deservedly celebrating. I'm sure Shea Mc Clellin had several quarterback hurries in that game

That gif doesnt even tell the full story. That guy was begging for it (in the way of having a punchable face and acting like a jack ass)

If that was Crabtree punching Richard Sherman people would have loved it.
