Game 1

I like the Red Sox in this one. Beckett is a monster, and seems to be getting stronger. While I have always liked Sabathia, I just don't trust him as much in this situation. (I think that Mustang Rob may have previously posted some Sabathia stats against Boston, but I'm not sure) I think the home field tips the scale in Boston's favor.

I have no earthly idea whether to expect a pitching duel or a good old fashioned slugfest. In any case, Mustang Rob will be 25% of the way to a complimentary bottle of premium tequila after tonight's game.

Here is the pitching matchup
It sets up like a classic pitching duel on a cool night in Boston with game time temps in the low 50's, but with JoBo in the pen, you can never tell.
Maybe if the Indians bring the bugs with them, they can steal the homefield.

Sabathia vs. Boston - 2007

O wins, 1 loss. Not so good.

7 innings pitched, 1 earned, 1.29 ERA, no walks, 7 strikeouts. Pretty good!

Where was this game, and were the Indians shut out by Beckett?

Same. I feel like Sabathia and Beckett will go 1-1 against eachother, and Carmona goes 2-0 in the series. Indians win it in 6.

In Cleveland in late July,
CC got beat by DiceK 1-0 and the following night Carmona beat Beckett 1-0.

Carmona is going against Schilling not DiceK.
I think it's a great move by Francona, especially since DiceK pitched better on the road this year, and I don't think Carmona will take both.

Ditto.
Since 2004 has come and gone, and I no longer watch the games through my fingers, good pitching performances are much more enjoyable. Consider the fact that so far CC Sabathia has had by far the worse postseason of the 4 starters in game 1 & 2 and we should be in for some tight games.

Carmona is going against Schilling not DiceK.

Im well aware of that. I think Carmona is the better pitcher right now and goes 2-0 against him.

Either way, I'm REALLY excited for this series and think it will be a very memorable one. I can see a lot of dramatic and controversial moments coming out of this one. Hope it lives up to my expectations and go Tribe.

Interesting game so far. I thought Carmona would be better than that, wasnt too surprised with the Schilling game.

Yeah. Really is a great game. Good hitting early. Great pitching late.

4 hours and 20 minutes to complete 9 innings. Wow. Now we go to extras.

They might play until the FOX football pregame show.

Does any person with that last name pronounce it that way?

Tim McCarver is an idiot.

I'm ill. The Tribe, McCarver and Buck are the reasons.

I watched Rounders on WGN afterwards until about 2 in the morning. It was a big night for me.

I logged on to SOSH and trashed Gagne for about an hour. I hope his fat ass is of the roster for the next series (should the sox make it that far).

Great win for the Tribe. I think they win next game, Beckett keeps em alive, and they get to Schilling again to win 4-2. Then the Rockies sweep them.

While it sounded like sour grapes coming from the d-backs, the rocks won that series with smoke and mirrors. Either AL team will throw better pitching at them from each spot in the rotation. They didn't hit against weak philly and d-back pitching. I don't expect them to hit agains the superior indian or sox pitching...which means you are would have to base them winning on luck.

Still 20 out of 21.

Either way, Joe Buck's pending fellatio of all things Rockies will be near unbearable.

I'm sensing that our friend Mustang Rob might never get his Patron. The Indians have been threatening since 2005. They seem to have finally put it all together.

7-3 Indians lead, top 7. I happen to turn AM 1000 on for a second after a lead off single by Varitek, and Joe Morgan says that the Red Sox are more relaxed now than earlier, possibly because they are down by so much. Lugo then grounds into a double play not even 10 seconds later, and the Red Sox go down quietly in the 7th, and the Indians are about to go up 3-1 in what is an extremely boring MLB championship series this season. Needless to say, I'm back listening to McCarver over analyze every pitch.

If that is the type of drivel they are paying Morgan to spout, it is time to set up the rotating analyst seat where fans who win a contest get to call the game.

I wouldn't exactly call the series boring, but there have been big innings in every game that seal the outcome, rather than being close to the end.
