Wow. That is a lot of Country Breakfast... for a bat-only guy that hit 9 HR

Is it?

10 million is comparatively nothing.

Mauer is making 23 to DH. Napoli makes 17. Swisher makes 15.

I mean, I share your thoughts about coming off a 9 homer year, but I just think 10 or under is pretty low

He went from a poor hitters park to a worse hitters park. He'll be lucky to get 20 HRs.

If he hits in the high teens and goes back to pre 2014 OBP levels (.360-.375) its a good deal.

His agent is denying that.

Ramirez hasn't proven to stay healthy though, but they can afford it.

That will end up being the worst contract of the off season.

I think Hanley's contract will be worse than Panda's but I'll hold out judgment on worst of the off season until we see what Scherzer and Nelson Cruz sign for.

BoSox outfield: Hanley Ramirez, Rusney Castillo, Yoenis Cespedes, Shane Victorino, Allen Craig, Mookie Betts, Brock Holt and Daniel Nava.

Victorino or Craig will be a Cub.

Xander could be traded for pitching. Sandoval has worse numbers than Valbuena, except for that WS ring stat.

That is quite ambitious for the BoSox.

Sandoval not actually a Red Stocking yet.

https://twitter.com/alexspeier/status/536901802294517760

Sandoval will make his final decision today, his agent just informed me.

... and this ...

Source: #Padres also have not heard that they are out on Sandoval. @CSNBaggs and @jonmorosi said #SFGiants have not heard either.

I'm going to guess that the BoSox will be trading for Hamels this offseason. They have tons of talent both at the major league level and on the farm to get it done.

7/$100MM

He's a pretty good player. Good on him. The Mariners are swimming in TV money, ask Robinson Cano...

Was the Giant offer close? Why would he leave if it was?

It appears to have been essentially equal. Supposedly there's a " felt disrespected" angle. My guess is truth lies in CA vs. MA taxes.

I'd lean toward the "felt disrespected" angle. When the discussions (from "insiders") continually harped on his weight, his ability to play full seasons, his seeming lack of power, or when he'd have to be moved to the AL, he dutifully played the good soldier role, but I suspect it bothered him.

Ramirez hasn't proven to stay healthy though, but they can afford it.

I think that's overstating it a bit

He had injury issues the last two years. Before that he was very durable.

We'll see. Id bet on him over Sandoval

I am glad it is not my team on either one of them, but I think the Red Sox felt like they had to do something. I will say with Ramirez if he is going to play left field, it doesn't get much easier than Fenway Park.
