This guy's floor is Wally Szczerbiak IMO. His defense will improve because Thibs is the coach.

Boozer's D never improved so what makes you think Jimmy McNoD will?

Before his recent ankle and hamstring injury Rose was looking good defensively.

just a few days ago you thought Mirotic was a bust.

Best to not make any judgements on either of these guys until after at least a year with Thibs.

Mirotic looked good defensively against Boston. Better, at the very least. Decent all around game. He is improving steadily. He is going to need his minutes.

I never said he was a bust. I said he wasn't NBA ready, and at one point I said he fucking sucks. His game log thus far shows I was correct on the first point.

Both need more time on the court. McDermott only played 2 minutes. That was 2 minutes less than Snell.

You need to earn minutes. Practice must not be good, and he certainly isn't making strides during games.

Was there another player deserving of his minutes on the roster? Noah and Taj's playing time was not reduced with Boozer on the team. Or did you think Amundson or Erik Murphy were the missing pieces to last year's roster?

They were all better than Boozer. You're better than Boozer. Who is more deserving of minutes than McDermott? Thibs didn't replace him in the rotation. He's just making the starters play more minutes.

Please don't become the whistler of Bulls fans.

Every single forward on the team is playing better than McDermott. When Rose, Brooks, and Hinrich are all healthy Butler gets minutes at the three as well. Dunleavy has been more consistent on both ends of the floor than McDermott. It isn't unreasonable that Mirotic could see 5-10 minutes every game playing at SF once Taj Gibson is back.

Tom Thibodeau doesn't owe playing time to McDermott, or Snell, or anyone else that doesn't contribute positively.

That's why Rose was banished in the 2nd half

It's pretty ironic that so many people who are so eager for the Bulls to get Love are complaining about this draft pick when Love is a better comp for McDermott than all the other guys people are naming. If McDermott had the exact same career that he did but was a black guy, he might have been the number one pick in the draft.

Are you really judging this guy after a month? I didn't expect him to come in and be an immediate star. And I can tell you that playing on a Thibodeau team isn't helping him. I still think McDermott can be a premium scorer in the NBA given the right situation.

What I meant was he isn't a driveway shooter. People were comparing him to guys like Alford and Steve Kerr. He has a lot more offensive game than that.

He has shown some flashes of athleticism on some finishes... that said, I think he ultimately ends up more of a spot-up shooter... which at his size, he could make a good career out of.

Butler and others looked awful as well until Thibs let them play. Would Rose have been the RoY if Thibs was the head coach? Not sure about that. He would have been on the bench because he sucked defensively and he was a rookie.

Well that is simply because Vinny Del Negro is a way better coach than Tom Thibodeau.

Nas, seriously, are you even a Bulls fan? Or just a fan of a couple players that happen to play on the local team? Why are you rooting for minor successes for lesser players over the successes of the entire team?

The Chicago Bulls don't exist to help rookies transition into the NBA. This isn't the D-League. The Bulls are out to win. McDermott cannot help the Bulls win right now, so he doesn't play.

He's obviously a lot smaller, but his offensive game is similar. He can score from the post or step out and can a jumper.

If you think that all McDermott is is a spot up shooter, then it was goddamn dumb to spend those draft picks on him.

I don't need you to lecture me on why the Bulls exist or to prove where my loyalties lie. Bottom line is Thibs can't have a 7 or 8 man rotation in the regular season. That's just too many minutes for the starters. Also he's been forced to depend on guys in the playoffs that he's refused to play during the season (John Lucas III/Marco Belinelli/Nate Robinson/Jimmy Butler). Jimmy Butler and others developed because they got minutes. D.J. Augustin proved he was a great option and it took Thibs a while to stick with him. Mirotic isn't making as many errors because he's been given more time (due to injuries). You have to teach the kids in practice and give them time to apply it in games. It will make the Bulls stronger when the season really matters. Look at how that works for Popovich.

Augustin was not great at all for us. I wish that myth would die already. His collective stats were terrible and the eye test showed he was a huge negative for the team when he didn't score 20+ ppg.

Oh and McDermott is nothing like Kevin Love.
