The Bears had one chance to hire Harbaugh a few years ago and declined. Let's hope the second time around they wise up and get him.

Given the source and the response, it did more or less confirm my position.

Maybe I'm getting a different version of the 49ers on my internet and television, but I'm completely unclear - my personal bias aside - what rational reason one would have to be clamoring for Jim Harbaugh. I was never on his bandwagon before; with the wheels coming off of everything remotely connected to him, I'm even more staunchly against it.

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that Colin Kaepernick really kind of sucks. THough I think he may be football Skiles. First couple years are great and he rides everyone hard, then the players just tune him out after a couple years.

Don did not ask me a question, but I will answer the questions that he asked Nas. Jim Harbaugh has been very successful & has turned losing programs into winning programs everywhere he has coached...San Diego, Stanford, & San Fran. The guy knows how to build a winning football program. What Bears fan wouldn't want Harbaugh instead of Trestman?

There's also the issue of players losing respect for him after he lied to Alex Smith about pursuing Manning.

There are many good coaches who have not yet won a championship. I would like the Bears chances of winning a Super Bowl better with Harbaugh rather than Trestman. The fact that Harbaugh knows how to build a sustainable winning football program isn't debatable.
So you would keep Trestman rather than fire him & hire Harbaugh?

I would rather have Harbaugh than Trestman.

But I think there is a little too much love for Harbaugh. He has not won anything when you get down to it.

The 49ers team this year seems to have turned him off. That is concerning to me.

But no doubt I would take him in a heartbeat over Trestman.

Furthermore, if you want the Bears to hire a coach who has already won a Super Bowl, your choices are limited to Gruden, Cowher, Shannahan, Parcels, Johnson, & a few others.

I wanted Brian Billick. Bears don't like strong personalities since Ditka.

Billick's done. He'll have been out of the league for seven years. We have a coach who was out of the league for eight years; how's that workin' out.

What makes you people think Harbaugh wants to deal with the McCaskeys? He played here, after all.

I think having Trestman gone will be a huge start but Jay is supposed to be a leader on this team due to his position. You have to have a coach that will be honest with him and let him know that he will play nice with Jay but it's the coach's way first and foremost or Jay will be on the bench and cut the following season. I think Cutler already realizes he has shit with Trestman and he's given up already.

I know this sounds crazy, but I'm starting to wonder if Trestman knows he is toast and is only interested in getting Cutler a "career year" so he can return back to his "QB genius" reputation in order to have jobs either with a team or as a guy who is hired by quarterbacks to make them better.

He only seems interested in Forte if he can use him to give Cutler better statistics.

Not that crazy.

Look how long Trestman waited for this chance. He can't even be considered a capable offensive coordinator. It's CYA time for Tresty.

No NFL head coach has won 2 Super Bowls with two different teams. I'm not as interested in hiring the guy who's already won one as I am in hiring a guy who I think is in the best position to win one.

IIRC, you have been a proponent of bringing in Mike Shannahan, Bill Cohwer, and Brian Billick at some point.

I used to be a big fan of Shanny and I wanted him years ago, but I said here recently that I'm not interested. I also liked Cowher but recently posted that I would rather have a younger rising star than Bill. I have never been a fan of Billick.
I wanted Chip Kelly or Mike McCoy for the Bears job.

I don't think anyone thinks Cutler is having a career year despite his passing yardage and TD's. I'd like to think most people can see past those numbers to the amount of turnovers and lack of scoring by the offense.

If anything, Trestman has been exposed as not being able to adjust in his 2nd season to NFL Defenses. This was an offense thought to be a Top 5 unit now in the lower half of the league.

Now 8 of 16 most accurate passing games vs. the Bears since 1960 (min. 20 attempts) happened under Trestman/Tucker

If they bring Trestman, Kromer, or Tucker back I don't think I will be able to root for the Bears next year. I won't root against them, but I would have to adopt a team to root for during the 2015 season.
