My oldest child still believes in Santa Clause in 7th grade. I'm not going to be the one to break it to him. He's a nice kid with a big heart who has such an optimistic view of humanity there is no way I'm going to let that get crushed. He is incredibly bright and he questions things so I would think he would have broken through this barrier already. I think he figures as long as he gets what he wants every December 25 he is happy to remain in the matrix.

Guy I work with had a freshman in high school who has not admitted it yet

She has to know

I was figuring i was coming to the end of the line with age 8. Guess not.

I was always a little bewildered when friends would tell me how the kids still believed in later childhood years . Now I understand. Mine is 5 and I hope it lasts forever.

Bless em, it's one of the great things of life to believe in Santa and all that sh*t...then you grow up and aside from hot chicks and money, nothing is that cool

He's faking it so that he gets more presents (i.e., from Santa and Mommy and Daddy, rather than just Mommy and Daddy). I did the same thing and I'm pretty sure it worked.

Anybody in middle school or older knows the truth about Santa and is just lying to protect their parent's feelings because they know it's a special thing to them.

Or the fear of losing out on gifts. Or both.

The fear of losing out on gifts, of course.

If not for Santa, who is gonna give me socks and underwear. Every year. Every. Single. Year. :(

The kid came up to me distraught yesterday. He asked if I knew Santa. He said a kid next to him in school said he wasn't real and was making jokes about the man. He said they sit very close together and he wants to make sure that Santa doesn't get them mixed up.

I sat there like the Grinch when his heart grew two sizes. dolphin doesn't usually get to experience life's warmer moments.

One of my friends tells his kids that anyone who doesn't believe in Santa Claus doesn't get any presents. Two of these kids are now in high school and I think they still pretend to believe.
