I do not get it. Coach at Colorado St is your choice at Florida?

I know he was an assistant at Bama for awhile.

Muschamp was a highly praised assistant as well.

Seems like a very mediocre hire.

Not a lot of good options there though right now. Michigan is going to find out the same thing.

I agree.

I just find it funny that some Florida fans I know on social media are going over the top praising this hire.

Guess that is what fans do.

I guess so.

The funny thing is if Illinois had hired him I'd have just about the same reaction that he is probably a good coach who will do well. For Florida, you kind of expect to be jealous of the hire.

I think we have unrealistic expectation of Florida. They have always been just kind of a team when not coached by a legendary type (Spurrier and Meyer).

by the way, Urban Meyer came from Utah...granted he had some fabulous seasons at Utah

yeah I think you hit the nail on the head Brick.

The only comparison between Meyer and McE is that they were in the same conference. But the comparison ends there.

Meyer had Utah rolling at national attention levels and playing in major bowls.

McE has not even won their conference.

He was only there 3 years and took a shit team to 10-2 in very short notice, that is pretty damn good. There offensive numbers are crazy good. Quarterback has thrown 32 tds - 6 ints (Not Cutler level of good but close) and I think they have the leading wide receiver in the country and average almost 500 yards a game.

Urban Meyer actually started at BGSU before Utah. BGSU had some pretty good teams with him at the time too. Two really good QBs with Omar Jacobs and Josh Harris.

Colorado State just got paid though. I think Florida is paying a huge buyout, then McElwain is paying $2.5 million himself, and then they are paying Colorado State a $2 million guarantee for a home game. Colorado State is making something like $7 million off of losing their coach. Pretty sweet deal.
