He is 2 for 3 on first rounders and I am not sure one of those is goign to be anything more than what he is, which is just a really strong guy who is hard to move.

Other than that he is 1 for infinity.....

2012 Emery got a 5 year deal, so he can stay and hire a coach for 2 years, maybe 3?

This is the perfect setup for the Footbal Czar/president hiring. Gives him (or her!) 1 year to look at everyone before the axe falls and saves the McClaskeys money when compared to backing up the truck this year and then paying everyone while they take vacations.

I had some hope until I saw the title of that article:

Of course Emery should be out. But he won't be.

I've reluctantly come to agree with bigfan on this one. When the Bears fired Angelo, they limited their GM search and got stuck with unqualified Emery because whoever got the job had to work with Lovie. When they fired Lovie, they hurt their coaching search according to Arians because they made being willing to keep Lovie's assistants a condition of the job (none of whom actually stuck around to work with Trestman anyway ).

It's clear at this point that Emery's seat should be just as hot as anyone's, but I'm skeptical he's likely to go. Firing Trestman but keeping Emery will once again hurt another coaching search and likely produce a candidate not any more likely to be better than Trestman anyway.

How the fuck do the Mc Caskey/Halases not take 2-3 of their brightest brood, start them out as ballboy in childhood, tell them to begin working as managers on some major college team under a great coach in college, then intern as a grad assistant, then move to scouting, then management before finally having a super team of knowledgeable executives in house?

They should be bred from birth to be Bears management.

Instead, we get the guy who came up through ticketing and sales who defers to the guy who came up through accounting.

The quote Drinky played from Trestman today was really bizarre (Hour 4, 21:00). It's as if Trestman is shell-shocked and can't say anything coherent:

"Our players come to work every day. They like football. That's why we like to have them around -- they do like football, and that's what our focus is every day."

Sir Laurence brought this up a few days ago, but Trestman interviews used to contain a fair amount of detail about various plays, but this year he's been nothing but generalities and pablum, and "I'll have to look at the tape." It's almost like he's been told he's fired, but instructed to go through the motions until the end of the year.

When I go to meet with people about Rehabbing a house, they always have these ideas they think are going to be easy and cheaper.

They just dont know because they havent done it before.

In reality, I know it will be more expensive and look like shit.

The real solution is usually to gut the whole damn house and start from scratch.
