as a longtime ev-cab guy from my perpetual love of cheap steals in fantasy baseball, i can tell you that i'm pretty sure ev-cab isn't going to be that guy from 2013 again. his problem (much like carlos gomez back in the day) was that he can't steal first base, so when you're hitting ~.220-at-best and your one positive attribute is stealing bases, welp i hope you take walks.

he used to walk about every other game (of which he'll max out at ~90-110) but last year was 8 walks in 90 games. yikes.

oh yeah and there's the whole thing where he was clearly en route to a proper monster SB season in 2013 and then he kind of went down in a flaming husk with the biogenesis crowd and came back a shell of 2013-self the next season. that might factor in.

but hey i just saw that the padres are going to sign clint barmes so everything's just a small peace in a much greater tapestry.

I don't get it either. Headley is a 30 yr old good defensive third basemen who had one good year at the plate. How that adds up to 4 yrs at $16.25M per I have no idea. The third base market is thin but I'd try to find another short term solution. Sign a journeymen. Platoon a couple 4A guys. Move a 2nd baseman over. These moves have to be better than tying that long term anchor around your neck.

The Dodgers send 2B Dee Gordon to Miami for LHP Andrew Heaney.

Nice trade for both teams. Heaney will slot in nicely behind Kershaw/Grienke and Gordon will wreak havoc on the bases in front of Giancarlo Stanton. Dan Haren may be included but he said he'll retire if traded so this could get interesting.
