as a longtime ev-cab guy from my perpetual love of cheap steals in fantasy baseball, i can tell you that i'm pretty sure ev-cab isn't going to be that guy from 2013 again. his problem (much like carlos gomez back in the day) was that he can't steal first base, so when you're hitting ~.220-at-best and your one positive attribute is stealing bases, welp i hope you take walks.

he used to walk about every other game (of which he'll max out at ~90-110) but last year was 8 walks in 90 games. yikes.

oh yeah and there's the whole thing where he was clearly en route to a proper monster SB season in 2013 and then he kind of went down in a flaming husk with the biogenesis crowd and came back a shell of 2013-self the next season. that might factor in.

but hey i just saw that the padres are going to sign clint barmes so everything's just a small peace in a much greater tapestry.

Chase Headley has a 4 yr offer on the table worth around $65M.

Why isn't he dry humping that table? This would be the run away winner in the worst contract of the off season award.

3 team trade with Yankees/Tigers/D'Bags. Yankees get SS Didi Gregorious, D'Bags get Robbie Ray and an infielder and the Tigers get a guy.

Looks like a steal for the Yankees.

Honestly, how can either team be in their right minds to offer this? Yankees, I could understand. They have money to burn. Is the 3B market that thin? I just can't fathom anyone offering that bum $65 million.

I don't get it either. Headley is a 30 yr old good defensive third basemen who had one good year at the plate. How that adds up to 4 yrs at $16.25M per I have no idea. The third base market is thin but I'd try to find another short term solution. Sign a journeymen. Platoon a couple 4A guys. Move a 2nd baseman over. These moves have to be better than tying that long term anchor around your neck.

Pirates resign LHP Francisco Liriano for 3yrs/$39M.

That's a real nice deal for the Pirates. I would have thought he'd do better than that.

Trading veterans who require new deals for prospects that might work out?

Samardzija looks in the mirror and sees Scherzer when he the image more resembles Liriano

The Astros signed Luke Gregerson to a 3yr/$18.5M contract.

Congrats on finally finding someone to take your money. I think.

I am reading they have also signed Neshek.

The Dodgers send 2B Dee Gordon to Miami for LHP Andrew Heaney.

Nice trade for both teams. Heaney will slot in nicely behind Kershaw/Grienke and Gordon will wreak havoc on the bases in front of Giancarlo Stanton. Dan Haren may be included but he said he'll retire if traded so this could get interesting.

Yeah, here is some info.

Weird trade. Marlins must think the NL East is very weak?

Ryan Theriot is that good.

Wait, not Theriot. Who is that?

Darwin Barney.

Might as well be Theriot.
