I think talent wise Rodgers has the edge but what Favre was able to do without an elite WR in that era exceeds anything Rodgers has done so far. I would take Favre if my life depended on it without thinking.

Favre was better/more creative at getting the ball in the endzone inside the 20. Everything else Rodgers is FAR SUPERIOR at. I would take him over any QB that ever lived, and win.

A lot of people would agree. Rodgers has come up small in the postseason and if AP holds onto the ball and Childress isn't a fucking idiot Favre may have another Super Bowl ring.

Favre was clutch. You thought the Packers had a chance just because he was on the field. He didn't have 1 great offensive player to give the ball too either. IMO Brett wins the intangibles battle too. Rodgers will never be mistaken as a leader.

Rodgers has not come up small at all in the playoffs. That's actually laughable. He's been terrific, as usual. Maybe you mistakenly thought it was his job to tackle Kaepernick also?

You're not a Packer fan so I don't expect you to remember Brett Favre throwing 6 INTs against the Rams in 2002(iirc) in the playoffs. THAT is coming up small, my friend.

Rodgers is a GREAT leader. Don't even know how you got the perception he's not.

Favre was not really all that clutch. The numbers dont suggest he was.

If any QB ever gives you a feeling that their team always has a chance, it's Rodgers, not Favre, Manning, Brady, or Montana. Rodgers basically never makes a mistake on the field. Those guys all do/did.

I remember that 6-INT game. I was in college. We had people over for the game. One girl (Packer fan) cried and cried literally. I've never seen anyone get so upset over a game.

You also have to consider that Favre played when the rules weren't so offensive friendly.

That being said, Rodgers is better.

I probably almost cried. I definitely broke some stuff in my room at the time. That and Fucking Donovan McNabb converting a 4th and 26 are my worst memories as a Packer fan.

Sharpe was better than any single WR Rogers has ever played with

Rogers is kind of the silent assassin. He kills you with his precision and never turning the ball over.

Farve is like a Samuri. He was built for battles.

Maybe if he didn't have to do it alone he would have been better. You saw what he was able to do at 39 when he finally had some offensive talent around him. Rodgers has lost 3 out of his last 4 playoff games. With the great offensive talent he has he should be able to score more points.

Favre played with him for about 10 games before he broke his neck.

Nobody on Rodgers offense has made the Pro Bowl before this season, except Lacy as a rookie alternate last year. Why are you overstating Rodgers support cast so dramatically? Before the season you couldnt tell us enough how much worse they were than Jeffrey and Marshall.

You want to compare Rodgers and Favre's playoff records? That's fine, but it's just one more thing that hurts your argument for Favre.

Favre was 9-4 with 3 MVP's and 2 SB appearances in his first 100 games. Rodgers is 4-5 in a very QB friendly era. How good would he be if QBs were allowed to get touched or if WRs could get touched? We saw how good Favre was so we don't have to wonder.

Give Rodgers a in-his-prime Reggie White and he would be 15-0 with 5 SB appearances and 5 rings right now.

Nope. Rodgers all day.

I think its close but id go Rodgers

Would A Rod have held up when defenses were allowed to touch QBs though?

No. He got hit once last name and was moving around like he was 50.

I would ask that of any modern QB. Its just so different now.

Are you really arguing that Rodgers is as tough as Favre? I've never seen a player as tough as he was. He took beatings and still played. He played with so many injuries it's hard to count. Rodgers fell on his shoulder ONCE and missed nearly the entire season.

Not having that fear makes playing QB easier. All the other offensive rules just add to that.

Steve McNair was every bit as tough as Favre was. But I never suggested Rodgers was as tough. I just said there is no reason to believe he wouldn't have stayed healthy in that era.

And don't ruin the discussion by trolling and suggesting Rodgers should've played through a broken collarbone.

No. Are we entering the realm of the absurd now, I guess?

Bottom line I think Rodgers benefits from the new QB friendly era of football and all the offensive friendly rules. Throw in expansion teams and steroid testing and I don't see how anyone could objectively argue that it isn't easier for Rodgers to play QB than it was for Favre. Because of that I would take Favre at 39 over Rodgers and Favre in his prime over Rodgers.

Close but I would still take Favre. The quality of the play in the NFC in the 90s, early 2000s was much higher than it is now. You had Dal, SF with some great teams. MIN & ATL had some really good teams, and then the start of the Rams run.

We saw Favre at 39 and Rodgers play in his prime in the exact same season. Rodgers was better.

You're misrepresenting the greatness of Rodgers' supporting cast vs Favre's. As far as running backs/receivers, Favre's were about the same and sometimes better. Plus, Rodgers played on some god awful offensive lines.

Favre was just as capable of jaw dropping greatness as he was capable of mind blowingly stupidness. Rodgers seems to only be capable of greatness. That's the difference.
