I didn't realize Travis Wood was that bad last year. I don't think he is as good as he was 2 years ago, so maybe a 4.40 FIP/ERA

Good rotation if the numbers held up. I'd expect big regression from Hendricks and Hammel but a nice progression from Wood

I think they're going to trade Wood. The 4th and 5th spot will be a revolving door until they work Pierce Johnson in. He has the best chance to stick of any of them.

nothing wrong with being deep at starter, havent seen many teams go the distance with all 5 in place.

Agreed; 2004 very quickly, and depressingly, comes to mind.

Yeah, nothing can beat the 2004 rotation for expectations of greatness. The big debate was whether to put light-throwing Maddux in between Prior and Wood or make him #3.

Cubs chasing another BlueJay.

Colby Rasmus batted just .225 with a .287 on-base percentage in 2014 for the Blue Jays, eventually getting benched. But he is only 28 years old and was a 4.8 fWAR player in 2013, hitting .276/.338/.501 with 22 home runs.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon is known for utilizing platoons and Rasmus, a left-handed hitter, has good career numbers against right-handed pitchers. Adding him to the mix could ease some of the pressure on Arismendy Alcantara, who hit just .190/.215/.350 against right-handed pitching this past season as a 22-year-old rookie.

Rasmus had some major clashes with Tony La Russa in St. Louis and Rasmus has pointed to that rocky relationship as a reason he struggled to live up to his prospect hype. Maddon is very player-friendly, an embracer of odd personalities, and could maybe pull something out of Colby that his past skippers couldn’t.

The Orioles are also known to have some interest in working out a deal with Rasmus this winter.

Already giving up on Alcantara. Would be smart if they weren't going to replace him with Rasmus.

He has value against LHP but that's about it as far as I can tell.

No one is ripping on Wada. 8675309 messed up the quote.

Kirkwood was referring to Edwin Jackson.

Right now he is the Cubs 2nd best LH starter.

Wada was good last year, and I look forward to either him or Travis Wood contributing nicely as the fifth starter.

I would like them to get Rasmus. It would make hating them that much easier.

Piss on Colby Rasmus and his asswipe old man. Drama and strikeouts, just what this team needs.

The Mariners have reached a deal to acquire outfielder Justin Ruggiano from the Cubs, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports on Twitter. Righty Matt Brazis is going to Chicago in return, MLB.com’s Carrie Muskat tweets.

Rookie ball to the Southern League in a year and change not too bad either.

I was hoping the Cubs would hold on to the veteran bat. Ruggiano kills LHP.

I think they might be moving salary to sign a better bat than his. I don't think
Junior Lake is up to the task.

Are you feeling OK, JORR?

Did a Cub fan steal your car a couple weeks ago or something?

This only makes sense if the Cubs get another RH bat.

They will get another bat. Gomes maybe?

So much for the Mariners taking Viciedo off the Sox hands....

Guess Hahn isn't so smart?

I would imagine the Cubs expect Olt to play 3B/LF/1B next season off the bench.

He is older than Castro. Great stats but much older than his competition so far.
