Rozner is an NIU alumnus so no surprise he is hyping us up. The only way this facilities master plan gets any big action and starts rolling is if some big money donors step up or we move to the Big 12 (which isn't happening). Otherwise, it's probably going to take the better part of 10-15 years until all those upgrades are made. We don't have Nike or Boone Pickens just throwing money at us.

Why is NIU expanding a stadium that is never even half full?

We were always over 20k when i went to school there. Its declined the last few years. I think people have gotten spoiled by all the winning and just come to expect it so they just stay at home and watch on TV instead. Weekday games are stupid too. I don't remember playing so many when i went to NIU.

They aren't really expanding the stadium anytime soon. The first things being done are a new press box and premium seating options. Then they want to renovate the West side. Then the endzone seating will be last and they will shift all the students over there.

So that the new stadium can be completely full! duh!

Also, donors like to have tangible evidence of their donations. Just putting it into money for academics, I mean, you can't point to that.

Remember this in the Cubs/Sox discussions

Different scenario. Athletic departments are run like a business and have to pull on donations to get money for big projects like this. If they don't have season ticket sales or walk ups, they can't put more money back into the stadium At the end of the year, the athletic department really can't be in the red.

Professional teams can lean on themselves and run in the red.

Not really that different of a scenario.
Any ticket sales are just bonus $ for the schools, even at the big schools.
Most of the $$ comes from TV, donors, and advertising.
Professional teams are the same, but instead of getting money from donors, they get it for free from the state of Illinois.

Wish I was going. Lower 80's sounds great right about now.

Hmmm. If we left right now......and drove straight through..........we could probably watch the game at a sports bar outside of Nashville.

Great! Pick me up on the way.
You cool with hanging out with young kids? Only one of them is likely to sucker punch us BYU-style.

As long as you can handle a 16 year old, I will take care of the youngens.

FAU's stadium is very nice but overbuilt for what the program is. I feel as if the school's wealthy donors -- and do they ever have 'em -- are trying to will the program into being more than it can ever be. It's ultimately a suitcase school like NIU.

If I were down in South Florida for the holidays, I'd have gone to the game. Why not.

This is not whining at all, because I think it's benefitted both teams.

This is the most........awakward....officiating crew I may have ever seen. They are constantly in the wrong spot, announcing the wrong name/number/team, and just really slow overall.
I'm guessing they didn't work together all year and maybe are just an "all star" crew from that conference.

Completely over matched. Out coached, out muscled.........bad display of football by the Huskies.
I never felt good about this team all year long.

Carey is a bad coach. The announcers have been dogging the Huskies ( ) all night long for being down and not into the game.

Carey IS a bad coach. I loved the Trib article yesterday that tried to create some kind of draw for Carey to coach elsewhere. His qoute: No one is calling and I'm not calling anyone
