Yeah but it's really bad now and it's finally preventing them from signing players they would like to keep.

A-Pud- 3yrs/$61M
Texiera- 2yrs/$45M
CC- 2yrs/$48M
Tanaka- 6yrs/$133M
Beltran- 2yrs/$30M
MCCANN!- 4yrs/$68M

They also have Ellsbury's 6yr/$130M or Brett Gardner's 4yr/$52M which look ok for now but could get real bad real fast.

They traded for Gregorious and will platoon him with Ryan at SS. I don't see how they can bring A-Pud back. I bet they cut his ass and buy him out.

I don't even think the Yankees are willing to eat $60mil. They will have him DH.

Dodgers designated RHP Brian Wilson for assignment.

The Dodgers are a lot less hateable. Now he can wander off and die.

Rockie signs Daniel Descalso to a 2 year $3.6MM contract.

This tells me two things...

-Apparently nobody in the COL front office has ever watched Descalso play baseball

-The legalization of weed in Colorado can lead to widespread impaired judgment.

The baseball season lasts 13 months.

Yes. 13 months.

Do the math.

The 2015 season starts at the end of September. The 2014 season doesn't end until late October / November.

The Padres, Rays, and Nationals have agreed to a much-anticipated three-team swap — pending physical — that will deliver important pieces to and from each club, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com reports on Twitter. The precise details of the transaction are still rolling out, but a rough structure of the deal seemed to have taken form in recent hours.

Young outfielder Wil Myers will head to San Diego as the centerpiece of the trade, and indeed the entire pact will depend upon the health of his balky wrist, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports notes on Twitter. The teams will swap catchers Ryan Hanigan and Rene Rivera, and the Rays will return Burch Smith, Jake Bauers, and Jose Castillo. San Diego will add righty Gerardo Reyes from Tampa as well, Bowden tweets.

Meanwhile, the Nationals will add righty Joe Ross and shortstop Trea Turner (as a PTBNL) in the deal, per Bowden, with both players going from the Padres to D.C. via Tampa. In return, the Rays will add outfielder Steven Souza and young lefty Travis Ott.

Trea Turner as a PTBNL? That's ridiculous.

I'm going to need some time to digest this but the Nats just traded for Trea Turner who has to sit out for the next 6 months because he has no trade protection. That makes none sense.

Volquez? No thanks. There are other guys with more upside. His bad years far outweigh his one good year.He has also never gone 200 IP.

1. Yordano Ventura
2. Edinson Volquez
3. Jason Vargas
4. Danny Duffy
5. Zimmer/Manaea/Finnegan

That's a lot more like it.

10 million dollars (AKA 4th starter money) for 2 years for a guy that won 14 games last year.

If 14 games is equal to 13 games, then yes. he did win 14 games.

He is a career 4.44 ERA guy. He has had three (3!) seasons in which he pitched at least 100 innings and had at least a 5.71 ERA. That is Edwin Jackson scary.

13. That's still less than a million dollars per win, which is a nice deal

I just think its a good price for a decent back of the rotation starter

He's been about a .500 pitcher in the seasons he's been healthy
