What's so hard for B&B to understand? Season't over. You just want to see if Clausen should be the backup next year or the stop gap QB if they can trade Cutler. Just get more film on him. That's all.

This is very common in lost season's for several teams throughout the history of the NFL. B&B are acting like this is a stunner. Really? I've said they should do this to people I know. It's really no big deal.

Also, why get Jay hurt if there is a trade market for him?

Clausen is still a young QB that only got one year of play in Carolina. So he really hasn't gotten a chance.

It really isn't though for the entrenched starter unless there is an injury.

Well, usually teams with entrenched starters have at least a shot at the playoffs at this point so they wouldn't bench them.

With two games left it is pretty rare though.

Eli and Kaepernick are the two closest parallels with starters who aren't on playoff teams and both will be playing this weekend.

Matt Ryan played in the last game of a 4-12 season last year.

This is them setting him up to either trade or cut him.

Eli has a consecutive start streak going. Caughlen won't wreck that for him. Kapernick is still young and learning. They don't have a young backup like the Bears that they need to look at.

I'm not saying it's always done. But it is done.

Bottom line: They trade him or Cutler is still the starter next year. He won't be back as a backup at his money.

They will not cut him.

I can't think of the last time it happened to a player like Cutler besides injury.

Two scenarios:

1.A last ditch effort by Emery and Trestman to deflect every bit of blame onto the players and buy themselves another year.

2. They are going to force Cutler to force himself out of town.

Redskins benched RGIII at the end of the season last year. With the full intention of him being the starter this year. It was a coach that was about to be fired. Still, he did it to keep RGIII healthy for the off season and to look at their young backup.

Congrats, Bears.

Hopefully this is a precautionary measure before the Cutler auction begins.

Does Trestman believe that Clausen will save his job? Is this managements way of protecting Cutler from shitty coaches or sending him a message? They can't trade him now. They just killed any value he may have had.

Cutler and Bears 1st for Cousins and Washington's 1st was the rumor mentioned this morning

It was performance related for RGIII too.

This is a message to Cutler no doubt. They also cost him a few Bears passing records.

Sure, that' a part of it like I said. Just to leave their options open for a trade if they go that route. Guarantee that he doesn't blow out an ACL to where you can't trade him. Or just have him healthy for the Bears next year.

Cutler's $54 million is guaranteed against injury.

Hard to believe this won't be a trade or cut situation. The Cutler era seems to be over.

No bearing at all on any trade value. Just like the Bears thought they had a franchise QB, some other dumb team will think the same way when they trade for him. Keeping him healthy for the next sucker.

No. They didn't kill the value with this move. If there is interest, him not playing the last 2 games doesn't matter. C'mon.

His contract and mediocre play matters. But there might be one or two desperate teams that will still take his talent. Half the NFL have worse QBs.

No thanks. Talk to Lovie first. He needs a QB and I doubt he will want to deal with Winston.

I think it does. It shrinks his market and teams are likely going to offer less for a QB that they know you don't want.

I know it's guaranteed. But you won't have a trade partner if he blows out his ACL. That's my point. Cuz he won't be ready to start the season. And if you keep him, you'd also like for him not to come off an ACL.

Jeez. People are really making this a bigger thing than it is.

What team wouldn't realize they don't want him when they are talking about trading him?

We really want Jay Cutler, but what will you give for him?

already thinking far ahead... but can you imagine if cutler got traded cut/and came back to soldier field as the starting qb for another team? The volume of the boos would set a guiness record for loudest outdoor stadium

If they are worried about keeping him healthy they are likely most worried about having to pay him the full $54 million if they cut him.

Being available and not wanting a guy is different.

Redskins, Jets, Raiders for sure. Rams are a maybe. That's just off the top of my head. What team wants to blow a chance at acquiring the great Jay Cutler?
