Reports of Wade Miley trade being motivated by lack of gluten free diet.

What?

Oakland traded C Derek Norris and RHP Seth Streich and an international signing slot to the Padres for RHP Jesse Hahn and RHP R.J. Alvarez.

I love what Preller is doing. Shipping out a bunch of minor leaguers for major leaguers. Three trades and he acquired his 3-4-5 hitters. Dude's doin work.

I probably missed it somewhere else in here.....but did the Giats really give Peavy a full no-trade for 2 years.

The Padres are sending Atlanta LHP Max Fried and 2B Jace Peterson. OF Michael Gettys might also be in the deal but he would be another player to be named later.

This is great. Preller is going scorched earth on the Padres minor league system.

Wow. Just saw the Myers to SD trade. Busiest offseason in MLB history?

That's old news racistcaricaturegreg. I wouldn't be surprised to see Myers flipped to the Rangers for Jurcikson Profar. Preller signed Profar and it fills a need for both teams.

Maybe, maybe not. I think they got a $25M TV windfall, so may not be same old Padres

Padres will be pretty good next year. They kept the top of their rotation and bullpen decently intact.

I do see a slight problem with the Myers-Upton-Kemp-S. Smith-Venable-Quentin outfield because it leaves now roster space for anyone to play 2B or SS.

Seth Smith will get traded.

If Cashner stays healthy, they'll be decent

Looking ahead after the Jimmy Rollins trade, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said that the team will continue to try to “get younger and more athletic,” as Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports......

The Phillies are taking a look at veteran middle infielder Rafael Furcal as he plays in the Venezuelan winter league, ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick reports on Twitter. Furcal signed last year with the Marlins, but was never really able to get healthy. He could potentially fill a hole for the Phils at short

so the Phillies want to get younger and more athletic and yet they are taking a look at Furcal?!?!

The Twins and Phil Hughes have agreed to a 3yr/$42M extension. Hughes contract is now 5yr/$58M.

Amazing how some guys thrive in no pressure situations. He should be safe in Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

The Rays have signed 2B Asdrubel Cabrera to a 1yr/$9M contract.

Interesting. Teams are getting their Ben Zobrist offers ready.

The A's acquired 2B Ben Zobrist and SS Yunel Escobar from the Rays for SS Daniel Robertson, C John Jaso and OF Boog Powell.

The most unpredictable man in the world strikes again. He trades away players a year from free agency and trades for players a year from free agency. Making trades for the sake of making trades is fun!

The Astros have agreed to acquire LF/DH Evan Gattis from the Braves for RHP Michael Foltynewicz, RHP Andrew Thurman and 3B Rio Ruiz.

It's still pending a physical from Gattis because not only is he an awful catcher and an average at best LF/DH he is also very injury prone. For Folty's sake I hope this trade goes thru and if it does John Hart has the executive of the year award locked up.

No idea what Astros are thinking. If that's the price for no defense power then Tank should fetch a decent piece.

The Brewers traded RHP Yovani Gallardo to the Rangers for minor leaguers.

Good trade for both teams.

I haven't seen anywhere this is finalized yet.

Reading on twitter that it is a done deal.

Not sure how that is a good deal for the Brewers.

I am good with it, he was in the last year of his deal and wasn't going to be resigned. Frees up money to do some other things, they were not in the position to do that with his contract.

yeah but I would think they would be able to do better at the deadline. Unless they are worried he is hurt or something and want to get rid of him ASAP

It will look a lot better when Gallardo's arm falls off in August.
Brewer has enough similar 2-3 types in Lohse, Garza... depending on how they feel about the prospects, trading Gallardo is certainly justifiable

The Brewers had to throw in $4M. That makes me like the deal for the Rangers. One year at $10M for Gallardo is pretty good.
