I liked the effort though. I really thought they'd lie down. The meatball in me loved Clausen getting pissed after the helmet hit.

I think it showed that it makes no difference who's QB'ing at this point.

Pretty much. So now what?

Trestman's plans suck and he should be fired. We knew that already.

Did you enjoy him getting pissed too?

No. I understand that fire and passion is stupid.

I disagree. I think it matters in football. As a QB his teammates will feed off of that.

So two guys they signed off the street have proven to play as well Cutler. That tells you the system is bad?

Did you think they looked good today?

What do they need to have there to make it look good?

Cutler wins that game today. I still want him gone but he won't be.

I wish Fales could start next week but he won't.

I don't think #8 really played well. If the Lions didn't make a bunch of mistakes it would have been worse. He's getting praised simply because his name wasn't Cutler. The Fox crew was fawning over the way he took a snap. Less than 300 yards of offense isn't a recipe for success in today's NFL.

It tells you that Cutler sucks. Clausen looked more comfortable than Cutler ever did. He made better decisions, as acurate, and his mechanics were pretty sound for a guy who has hardly played the last few years. If 10, 17 & 83 would have caught the ball today, Jimmy would have had some really good numbers.

Agreed.

Clausen turned in a solid backup performance. But I'd like to have seen one sustained TD drive of over 10 yards.

I think they looked better than they did last week.

I think everything sucks. The QB, the players, the coaches, the GM, the radio guy....

Clausen looked pretty good, considering the guy hadn't played in forever. Better than Matt Forte.

Several of those dropped passes ended drives.

After 2 years I'm convinced 17 and 83 really don't know what they should be doing most plays on top of all their drops. Their drops didn't just start this game either. Cutler and McCown could tell you all about it.

The dropped passes were bad.

But, to be fair, this is hardly the first game where guys have been dropping passes. I don't know what they've been counting on in Wilson but the guy can't catch.

Drops have been an issue all year.

They did look better than they did last week. Even with Cutler quitting on his team he was still more productive than #8 was today. I think #8 could have success on a team with a great defense but you really can't ask him to make many plays.

See, I watched the whole game and was constantly surprised by Clausen's abilities: scrambling, poise under extreme duress, average arm strenth, accuracy, fire, pashen, the whole nine yards. I think he could be a middle of the pack QB.

I was anticipating a Jonathan Quinn episode.

What would possibly give you any indication that would have happened?

I would say that was a pretty good performance for a guy who hasn't started a game in 4 years.

I guess Shanahan is the last remaining thing to bring the greatness out of our elite QB.

He looked like he cared. That matters to a lot of people. I believe the way you feel about Cutler may be influencing what you think. IIRC this is the fewest yards the Bears offense has had all season. He settled down nicely after the 1st quarter and should start next week.

Because that was probably the best game our defense and ST has played all season. Let's be honest if Cutler had produced at the level #8 did today we all would have complained. Especially considering how good the defense and ST looked most of the game.

Bull-fucking-shit

Cutler would have had stats like Stafford today.

He's a goddamn bum and needs to be jettisoned.

Agreed on Clausen.

Won't say it's a certainty. But it basically would have only taken an offensive performance slightly above their worst one of the year to win the game. Given the turnovers, I think they could have gotten that done.

I won't argue if you disagree. Just my opinion.

If Cutler couldn't do more than Claussen then we SHOULD complain. He's the highest fucking paid player in the league.

#8 is serviceable. Build a better defense and he will succeed.

He didn't look like he cared? He didn't settle down after the 1st quarter? Have the Bears had a lot of games where they didn't get 300 yards on offense despite having the ball for 30 mins?

Bears scored 14 points today.
In good weather.
At home.
7 of those 14 came off of a muffed punt inside the 10.

If the Bears build a better defense and shore up the O-line a bit more #8 will be just fine.

Draft defense and get them into the top-15.

That's been my point for years.

If the Ravens shored up all other areas of their team, Flacco would be good enough.
If the Ravens had a good enough defense and special teams, Trent Dilfer would have been good enough.

But appreciate the special skills that Clausen has under those circumstances.

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that Bumpkin was a McCown guy too?

Yes Nas....exactly right. We would have complained because Cutler is always supposed to put up better stats than a guy who hasn't started a game in four years. And how does our defense playing great equate a Bears victory with Cutler at QB?

Maybe the Bears miss Shlaussen a lot more than they thought. They played ok today without Long.
