Every scouting report I ever saw on this guy talks about the game he won at Fresno State v Carr! Watched that whole game as well...SPMack even watched a little with me...and there is no way Fales was on Carrs level in that game, even f they came back and won. Carr doesnt play defense.

I know my endorsement of Mr. Fales has nearly gone over the top, perhaps to the point of parody.

But, truthfully, this isn't just some Nathan Enderle late round flyer. This guy is a real prospect.

If he were in this upcoming draft, he's the 3rd best available and probably going round 2-4.

I challenge Trestman to play him.

And then we'll see who is right....and who is dead.

No doubt he is not Enderle. Seems to have the smarts, quickness, accuracy etc...I just question the arm strength...and in the NFL if you cant make the throws to keep the Defense honest, they will slowly close in on you, pressure every throw and then it all breaks down,

There is no logical reason why the Bears aren't starting Fales Sunday. This kid is good. I watched nearly every game he played last year and he impessed me. Likewise, there is no logical reason to start Cutler. If he gets hurt the Bears are screwed.

Regarding Harbaugh, hopefully George has already matched the Michigan offer.

He's a system qb. He fits with what trestman needs. Depending on the coach next year he might not even be on this team

He's better than that.

But every QB is a system QB. Some just look flashier than others.

Yup. Harbaugh said that he doesn't want to respond to the Michigan offer until he sees what other NFL opportunities present themselves. I hope George presents himself at 12:01 Monday.

I don't understand this enthusiasm for Harbaugh, the guy that Ditka once famously chewed out for all the world to see after Harbaugh audibled as QB and then threw a pick 6, resulting in a Vikings win over the Bears at the Metrodome. The same guy who thought that Mr. Tatoo Kaepernick was good.

NO, I don't want him. It did not end for him well in Frisco and the collapse there was all his making. I would rather have a guy like like Mike Shanny who has already won the big one.

Here you go.

It's just that Scorehead gets wet for strong-jawed alpha males. Look at that overbite. That's the overbite of a decision-maker.

Yes. How can you argue with these career stats? I'll excuse his record in Washington, where he still had a 10-6 team with nobody.

Regular season 169–137–0 (.552)
Postseason 8–6 (.571)
Career record 177–143–0 (.553)
Super Bowl wins 1999 XXXIII
1998 XXXII
1995 XXIX^
^ As offensive coordinator
Championships won

AFC 1999, 1998, 1988^, 1987^

NFC 1995^

It's a whole new league. Trestman's teams did well in the '90s too.

Unless the Bears demonstrate a genuine commitment to winning by changing course at Halas Hall, which would be a total house cleaning from CEO Ted Phillips on down, I really don't have a lot of confidence in the Bears' ability to get a top-tier head coach.

You people don't get it. Harbaugh was not liked by his players in Frisco. So you want to put him in Hallas Hall in that poisonous environment after the incident with Kromer? It would be pure stupidity. You need a finesse guy like Shanahan who would not have to get in anyone's face to command respect. It would be the best option for what to do with Cutler, too, because Shanahan drafted him. I'll take a one year option with Shanahan and Cutler together, bring the band back for one more year. If it doesn't work out, dump Cutler and let Shanahan work with this prospect Fales.

There is a path to get out of this mess, but Harbaugh is not the answer.

Werd up.

i doubt any coach will ever win a super bowl with 2 different teams. when a coach wins a super bowl, the next team they go to they tend to get too much power...they mismanage things and only a few coaches ever have taken 2 different teams to the super bowl. the whole "the guy won a super bowl" or has super bowl pedigree is fool's gold.

Shanahan is barely a .500 coach without Elway.

since there has been a super bowl, that's why i said super bowl. don shula won an nfl championship and 2 super bowls. no coach has won a super bowl with 2 teams. and only a few have coached more than one team to a super bowl. my point is that the "he won a super bowl" may actually hurt chances to win the SB with your team since he's already won with another team--since no coach has ever done that.

Shula won two Super Bowls (vii and viii) with the Dolphins. He lost Super Bowl iii with the Baltimore Colts.

So by that reasoning, I should not run a Kentucky Derby winner in the Preakness and Belmont because there hasn't been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in '78?

No sir, you still run him because he's the best horse to win. If Shanahan is California Chrome and makes it to the Superbowl, that's still pretty damn good.

yeah the obvious difference is...it hasn't happened *since*...versus it hasn't happened *ever*. in almost 50 years of the history of the super bowl. and with the way coaches are dispensable these days, it's less likely to happen now than in the days of bill parcells and mike holmgren.
