Garza is versatile as he can play guard or center. This isn't a dumb deal if he's expected to be a veteran reserve next season. La Puente is better than Garza or a better player can be drafted.

The team has been such a total failure that two days ago Jay Cutler bluntly said, "Everyone could get axed." So I do find the timing of this announcement a bit curious. Why now when there is so much uncertainty about the direction of the team?

If you read enough articles on the web, the trend seems to be Emery and Trestman are coming back next year, but with new coaches on the staff.
