The hot name as Emery replacement.

Worked for 12 years under Angelo and 1 year under Emery.

Fuck this. Another recycled Bears employee.

One other team also mentioned for Ballard.

The Jets. Very reassuring.

And why the fuck is Ted Phillips mentioned as the guy who wants to bring in Ballard? GO BACK TO ACCOUNTING !!!!

I was hoping George was going to be different. WRONG!

Ballard was also considered a candidate for Bucs GM after Lovie Smith was hired but the Chiefs' front office and/or Ballard apparently declined the interview request.

Cant really say Ballard is good or bad, just that it follows the same pattern of hiring that has worked so well for the Bears!

Jay Glazer just reported that a Jets advisor called Rex Ryan's agent to ask about a different coach for that job. The Jets are the best.

Bill Simmons Twitter

But...these are examples of the same organizations doing the same dumb shit

Not that excited about this name. If there is a president of football operations above him that is more experienced it would be a better option.

How about they keep Emery on to hire his replacement?

sounds like a normal bears hire even tho we know pretty much nothing about the guy.

Is there a guy out there that would excite anyone for the GM position?

I foresee a Chicago sports landscape like this.

Blackhawks
Bulls
Cubs/Sox
Bears

This team is truly disappointing. The fish rots from the head down.

Exactly... safe & uneventful. The opposite of what we need. It hasn't worked and I'm ready for some needed big bold changes. Holmgren?

Why would Holmgren excite anyone? Didn't he pretty much suck in Cleveland?

I would like someone who has not worked for the Bears. It's the same little pool of current or former employees. What a joke.

If the Bears are going to consider Holmgren, in my opinion it should be for head coach only--not as general manager, etc. In three seasons as the Cleveland Browns' President Holmgren demonstrated that he is not a good talent evaluator.

I'm pretty much done as a fan if this shit is true. At least until The McCANski's no longer own this team. So fucking tired of this shit. It's so bad that even a rumor on a random chat board has potential to ruin my day.

They need to go hire an actual football mind ie Bill Parcells to come in for a couple seasons and clean house and get this team back in the NFL. Why the fuck is that so fucking hard for them to wrap their tiny little baby bird brains around?

Fucking morons

With as much crap as Murph takes, I agree with his credo of, "Real fans don't go..." Life long Blackhawks fan and I stayed away in the late 90's till Old Man Wirtz died. Other teams fans may say, "Oh, you're only a front runner...etc..." but I'm not spending my money on a team that isn't going to spend it wisely or be serious. I have better way's to enjoy my Sunday's than to watch this clown college.

Spending your money and personal time on a franchise that doesn't return anything on your "investment" doesn't make sense.

Until this team makes good, solid decisions that puts this team on a path to winning they can go fuck themselves.

Just like breaking up with a bitch, its tough.

All the signs say NO and yet there you are.

just glad in my life I got to see the 85 Bears, Walter and MJ play in this town. Cant top them. Even a Cubs world series would be tough.

Well said.

I will always enjoy the good memories that I've had being a fan, but sadly there aren't as many as other teams fans get out of theirs. Roughly 25 plus years of this for me and it feels like the same old shit year after year - wind up just bad enough to be in the middle of the draft, take a chance on a player to prove you're smarter than everyone else in the room, sign bad free agents, make the playoffs once every 4 years or so, lose constantly to your biggest fucking rival while looking like an absolute joke next to them looking completely professional.. I mean, how fucking much of this crap are we expected to keep showing up for?

Oh, and cheer against your favorite team the last few games of the season in hopes of improving your draft status knowing it won't matter because whoever is drafting will trade away a high pick or miss on whoever they take anyways. Almost forgot about that one.

Thanks a lot McCANski's, fucking jerkoffs

What does that mean?

Breaking up with a bitch is usually a pleasure.

Breaking up with a pleasant young lady is more difficult.

I don't think it matters with the NFL national TV money. Bearss could go 0-16, never sell a ticket and still make money. In other leagues you usually have to earn money. Excepting the Cubs of course.

Perhaps John McDonough wants to work for every team in Chicago and the Bears are next?
