If by some miracle Trestman comes back next year I am going to have a hard time being optimistic about this team.

Agreed...the only reason to hope he returns is so Bernstein will be exposed as a liar.

I already am pissed and they haven't hired anyone yet. They will screw this up yet again.

Sorry for the off topic but Eddie Lacy is putting on a running back clinic against the Lions. Holy crap. He got 10 extra yards with 3 guys hanging off of him!

That would be incredible. At a minimum Bernstein would have to give an explanation and an on-air apology. In truth, he should be fired if it turns out he lied.

I watched a fair portion of the game today, my one close-to-full NFL game of the season. Boy, that was a real turdburger. So many commercials, too!

upon further review Clausen is still better than Cutler.

Sorry Nas, but he's not above average at rushing. He's very much average. That's kind of important when evaluating a running back. Maybe I'm old school though.

concur he's average at best when handed the ball and charged with moving it forward.

He's been well over 4 yards a carry for his career even though he's run behind awful run blocking lines and 8 or 9 guys in the box at times on defense. He doesn't have breakaway speed either so you can't say it was because of long runs. He's a great all purpose running back and the only consistent thing we have on offense. He comes to play every week too.

He's been below 4 yds per carry 3 out of 7 seasons. That's not great. Sorry.

He does come to play and is a valuable asset. Just wouldn't be so casual with the plaudits.

Come on! His first 2 years he was the offense. They put 8 and 9 guys in the box every game because our offense sucked and our offensive line was all time bad. You're reaching my friend. He has a 4.3 ypc for his career and he's at about 7 yards per touch for his career.

I wouldn't call 4.3 ypc great. I believe thats all anyone is saying.

And it's 4.2 ypc. Definitely not "great".

Nas - excuses aren't necessary when a player actually is great.

He has the most yards from scrimmage since he's been in the league. That says great right there. No excuses. It's just a counterargument.

Great at catching the ball for a running back. Average at rushing for a running back = not great running back.

Most yards from scrimmage since he's been in the league and nearly 12k yards in 7 years is great for any player but it's amazing considering the team he's played for.

That's a testament to his health and the Bear's over reliance on screen passes. You ignore his running limitations in the same way you did Cutler's interceptions.

He's not a great runner. I've acknowledged that. This was really the only year the Bears fell in love with the awful screen passes. I wasn't ignoring Cutler's interceptions. We both probably have similar feelings about Cutler.

Forte was 29th in the league in rushing yards per carry (26th if you exclude QBs).

I liked the part where there was a timeout with one second on the play clock, then a false start, then a delay of game, then a down with a loss of yards. All we needed was a challenge flag and it would have been a Lovie Special.

I believe Cutler went into this game feeling he was not going to get hurt to win it. A lot of quick and short passes. They need to launch this guy.

Zaidman said this morning that in 10 of the last 11 games the offense failed to score in the first quarter. Gotta fix that D though.
