After long consideration I have determined that Michigan State Head Coach Mark Dantonio is currently my guy.

Dantonio has an impeccable record as a college football coach with a 92-48 record. He has had two head coaching gigs. Each team realized immediate increase in its success upon his arrival. He has coordinated under Tressel, Saban and Earl Bruce. He is a defensive minded coach at heart but he seems to understand offense very well. He is detail oriented with zero fear to make bold decisions or lay down the gauntlet to his players against powerful opponents.

From his perspective, this is a perfect time to get out of MSU. The Spartans had their fun gaining ground on Michigan over the last few years. He has to know the party is over with the Harbaugh hiring. There is no way he is walking into the parlor of a recruit and outselling Harbaugh or Michigan anymore. Even further, MSU now sinks down to second tier status in the Big 10 with OSU and UM being the teams league offices will highlight. Also, Dantonio has now lost his top coordinator to Pitt.

From the Bears perspective, this is a guy that fits what Mc Caskey laid out as his image of the future. His teams will certainly restore the character of defense with an emphasis on the running game offensively. Furthermore, he is a great college coach, but not one that is breaking the bank. He makes about $3 million. Bump him up to $4 million and he is still probably only a middle of the road cost as a NFL head coach.

The negatives are obvious. He has ZERO NFL experience. I know there are differences in the college and pro game but I simply don't find this as daunting as others. He also has no offensive backround in a league heavily trending towards offense. This would be my biggest concern.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Mark Dantonio.

I also have a concern that they guy has already had one grabber but I just assume all coaches deal with some angina....unlike Bigfan, who has to deal with some vaginas

That is a thread about who you think it will be.

This is a thread about the guy you want it to be.

Pasta and I are on the same guy with Teryl Austin. The Baltimore Ravens organization is a factory for developing coaches. Marvin Lewis, Chuck Pagano, Mike Pettine, Jack Del Rio, Mike Smith and Rex Ryan are all from their program. Busts like Mike Nolan and Jim Schwartz also spent time in Baltimore.

I love the piss and vinegar attitude that franchise brainwashes their defensive coaches with.

The Snapper Plan wisely calls for the Bears to reverse their philosophy back onto defense. Aaron Rodgers will be in the divison for the next 10 years so the Packers will never be outscored but can be slowed as witnessed with the Lions and Vikings. The Vikings are 2 years ahead of the Bears and hired the perfect candidate in Zimmer. His defenses have given Rodgers fits and they have great talent on defense.

The Bears should follow the same gameplan by hiring Austin to rebuild the defense, the new GM build a ball control offense and then swoop when fortune strikes for a Bridgewater/Wilson falling star.

If you are OK with a college coach hire but want more offensive emphasis, Gus Malzahn would be a consideration

you're never going to out offense the Packers, so I'd go defense big time. Rex Ryan comes to mind.

I'm with Coach, but I will not be surprised if it is Shanahan the younger.

Yes, please do after his debacle in DC.

Gus is my guy. He'll be in the NFL in a few years.
I'm also a big fan of Chris Peterson and Nick Saban.
I would rather have a rising star college head coach than an NFL coordinator.

He fucked up. He's a big boy and hopefully learned from it and would be careful to not fuck up again. I'm more concerned about him not growing a mustache.

I like the Dantonio angle. I'd be behind that.

Not sure about Malzahn. And scorehead says that he is a fan of some guy named Saban, I will look into him.

Have I shared my thoughts about Schiano?

Good choice but I'd bet that if you polled every pro and college coach in the USA, Gary Patterson would come out on top. Yet one year with Cutler and he'd be the special teams coach at the College of DuPage.

I would like the Rooney rule to be done and I would imagine Todd Bowles might too. Everyone wants to talk to him now. do they really want to talk to him, or is it just that it satisfies the rule?

I would imagine Bowles himself might be fine with the ending the rule, knowing if someone really wants to talk to him as a coach.

Even gave Seacrest a few days to login and give me credit for Emery dismissal. But no, he was absent for a full day after that. Imagine that.

Teddy, as some can imagine, might not be so "up" on the technology involved in accounting these days. Yeah, I know you are all shocked. So Teddy outsources a good portion of that and he made all of them aware on Friday that Emery was gone and he was staying...in other words, they kept the contract....and he MIGHT be working more closely with them, if they find someone who thinks it is a good idea.

So, Teddy is going to not only find, interview and recommend someone that is going to diminish his role as the Bears President. Quite a corporate structure.

I gave you credit or it when it was reported by you.

And was out of town sick in bed when he was fired.

It's cute when the silver spoon North Shore types play picked on.

i am happy the bears organization doesn't read the board.

otherwise they'd stumble into making competent decisions.
