Cannot play with him, cannot coach with him, cannot win win with him. Can't do it.

Until possibly 2015 at the earliest.

It's too early in the season to say something like that about a rookie. He's gotten better over the past month. Adjusting to a new style of play and in a new country takes time. When you add the schedule and traveling in that it makes it even more difficult to make a quick adjustment. He'll be fine in the 2nd half of the season.

He's gotten worse.

I think eventually he will be a good player. But he's more of a project than many of us thought.

I have only been able to watch a handful of mins so far this season. The short stretches that I have seen I was impressed with Mirotic.

What am I not seeing? What is he doing wrong?

It's like he never heard the word DEFENSE.

Offense will keep him on the court. Runs very well.

Watching him try to front a guy or overplay one side of a post player hurts.

He can't play defense without fouling and really just can't play defense at all. Isn't ready to score at all in the NBA right now and just generally looks out of place more often than not. Just look at his stats.

I will agree that at least last night he was pressing and looked pretty bad. Some of it was just bad bounces. But the pressing tends to happen when you are totally clueless as to what minutes you will play and feel the need to make the most out of whatever you get. McDermott is in the same situation (for the most part) but last night the bounces were going his way.

You can sense how disjointed this thing is right now. The Rose thing is a problem.

Im not going to be worried about team defense or individual defense until around the break.

I expect Gasol to get better. He can't continue missing a million layups.

Sounds like he would be a great fit at Bears linebacker.

Maybe he should give it a shot. He's certainly not an NBA player right now.

Hes not so bad. Its gonna take some time to adjust to the league. Has to finish strong at the hoop and also learn how to foul without allowing And-1s. Has the most and 1s against ive ever seen. Gotta hit the weights

This is some of Mirotic's ROTY competition.

He should have this easy.

Conns asked me about this. I've liked what I have seen from Mirotic lately, but he wasn't nba ready when he got here and he still is much more of a project player than people want to admit, namely IMU. His progression on the defensive end has been impressive though.

The problem for Mirotic lately has been Taj Gibson. Mirotic was beginning to creep into the Rookie of the yr. Conversation while Gibson while Gibson was hurt. Since Gibson has been back Mirotic hasn't been the same player. When Mirotic is in the game with Gibson and Brooks he doesn't get the ball. Gibson is a ball stopper particularly when he plays with the second unit. He thinks he is either a first or second option when he is in with the second unit which hampers Mirotic s game.

Gibson is a much better player than Mirotic. Anyone arguing otherwise isn't being honest.

More experienced and more established. He is not more talented. I was worried about Mirotic s ability to guard but he is showing himself to be an adequate defender and he is a better rebounder than I originally thought.

He's one of the best rebounders in the NBA already. Every other facet of his game needs considerable work.

I don't know what your statement about talent means. It sounds like the same type of logic that would draft tyrus Thomas over Lamarcus Aldridge. Taj Gibson is better and more talented at playing basketball than Nikola Mirotic is right now. You can't argue with that without being wrong.

Mirotic is already a better shooter and ball handler. He may be a better rebounder. If he is not he is almost as good. Tyrus Thomas never really was talented they thought he was freakishly athletic. Didn't you create a scenario where Taj was quite possibly the 8th best PF. We're you being honest?

He is pretty good when he gets solid minutes. The more he plays, the better he is.

He plays better when Gibson doesn't play. I'm sure a lot of it has to with increased playing time. I also think that it has to do with some other things as well. He played well the last time Gibson missed time. During that pd he was being considered for Rookie of the yr. The team also played well. Gibson came back and his minutes decreased. I hope Thibs doesn't revert back to this once Gibson returns but something tells me he will.
