I agree someone will turn the bears around someday and they will be statutized for it.

I am not debating whether or not they are popular. Chicago is a Bears town. No doubt.

I was wrong about Emery and Trestman being fired. I have a feeling the no shows had a lot to do with it.

Like Big said-Hiring someone with a winning reputation to run the organization is needed for the basic plan to be created and someone to convince others to come here. That means Ted and George stay out of the football decision business. And I don't think George and Ted are a big selling point.

Big is the poster that has been most incorrect about the Bears. Leave him to grind his axe alone.

Ted and George have stayed out of the day to day football making decisions for years. And they are not, nor do they need to be a selling point. Nor should they be.

The list of reasons to take the job speaks for itself. Add in the team spends money, and lots of it, to pay GM's, coaches and players. See the Jets, they underspent their cap by $20M. And they stay out of your way and make sure that all others do too.

Without them, none of your points are true. It's due to their fabulous job as owners...

The Bears are one of the top three teams in the league for viewership when they are winning.

They play in the second largest market

They are still BY FAR the most popular team in the city

There season ticket waiting list is ridiculously long

They are one of the original teams

That's not what I said, but you've been making stuff up for the past two years at least so why stop now?

And what bothers you the most? The fact that you lost out on some cool stuff and stories when your buddy's dad couldn't by in?

Or the fact that the stuff you think they should care about they don't give a shit about?

Always count on the Bears to do the wrong thing. After the dog and pony show, they will hire Charlie Weis as their new head coach.

The Bears could be owned by the mob and Seacrest would have their backs as long as they went to Mass every week.

Emery was required to hold onto Lovie. Angelo was required to hold onto Jauron. Who gave the GMs those directives?

I'll say one more time what you are unwilling to see, or to intellectually dishonest to acknowledge.

Ted is one of 10 guys running a team in the NFL currently that hired a GM that got them to the Super Bowl in the last 7 years.

No he was not. Lovie was a succesful coach and he was asked to look at him nad evaluate the potential of keeping him.

Stay out of bears business Packer boy.

Ted hired a search firm to find Jerry Angelo, and his two general managers have combined for ten missed playoffs in fourteen years. How many teams have missed more? The Bills, Lions, Browns, and Raiders?

17 missed playoffs in the 22 years since Ditka got fired, 18 in 23 if you want to tack on his bad year at the end. And we have the nerve to treat this team like they're this great sports institution like the Steelers or the Packers. Not only do the Bears not win multiple Super Bowls, they can't even qualify to maybe win them. The McCaskeys could get mail from Publishers Clearing House and still not be told that they may already be a winner.

So the Bears have been to 1 Super Bowl in the 15 years that Teddy has been running the Bears. Not good. And, he hired Angelo and Emery and made Cutler the highest paid player in the NFL. Not good.
When do you think Teddy gets inducted into the NFL HOF for his great leadership and management?

And I just want you to clairfy, because I can't tell if you're trolling or not, that this equals success? Not winning a Super Bowl, just getting there.

And Ted didn't actually hire Jerry. The search firm gave him the name.

My point exactly.

You are unwilling to even acknowledge the fact that Ted hired a GM that brought the Bears to a Super Bowl.

In the history of wrong about the Bears, you make Scorehead look like Nostradamus with your past positions and claims.

"The Bears never kept Marinelli"

"They won't fire Tresty"

"They won't fire Phil"

"They are too cheap to pay of the contracts"

Carry on repeating whatever biggie says.

I don't think that he ever does.

That leaves 18 other teams that have missed the Super Bowl in that time frame.

It's a strength when you acknowledge a shortcoming or a personal shortfall and bring in someone else to help you with it.

Ted found a guy that brought them to a Super Bowl.

Will he this time? I have my doubts. But to not acknowledge the fact that he did hire a successful GM once is intellectually dishonest, like I stated.

Your definition of success is way different than mine. My expectations are higher. I wish the Bears would expect more from their management team.

If Jerry Angelo was such a "successful GM", then why hasn't he gotten hired by another team since getting fired by the Bears?

My prediction on trestman was based on the fact that as long as I can remember they had never fired a coach with 2 years remaining. So is this the norm? I'd say no.

And the Bears are not cheap. They have no idea how to spend their money correctly. I don't recall ever saying the Bears were cheap.

And did or did not a search firm give Ted the name to hire? I believe Ted and George on their own hired Emery. And that worked out well.

And you can answer my clarification question if you'd like.
