Have GM's and coaches been turning up their noses st the opportunity to interview here?

Eric DeCosta did.

This year?

So that would be 1?

That's three.

If we accept the fact that Ron Wolf's kid had a chance at getting the job. Which we all know he didn't.

how many do we need before you will concede that Teddy's existence diminishes the appeal of the job?

I thought it was the McCasley's?

Can we get a cohesive person to blame here?

I guess the deep thinkers are busy being lackeys for Bears management.

But you've got Bernstein in your corner. So there's that.

My point was Phillips. Who has been mentioned in three very quick examples. It's safe to assume there are more that never surfaced.

Poor Seacrest.

For some reason, you've decided to become the CSFMB's resident Bears management apologist.

The good news is there is plenty of room for you on that bandwagon.

But I guess Ted and George have done a good job in your eyes because they reached, not won, a Super Bowl 8 years ago. I mean, how many other football management and ownership guys can claim they never won a Super Bowl?

I guess you must be privy to Bears success that we are not.

There sure are a lot of people on here who think similar about the McDipshits and Phillips. Dumb parrots.

The reason largely concerns stained glass and magic beads.

They are not parrots. Some actually post their own thoughts instead of repeating bf's verbatim.

Like I said, no one here has been more off in their predictions than you and biggie. Because you repeat the same ones he has.

Have an idea, they are still free.

Here's the majority of the thoughts concerning Bears management around here, Seacrest.

Ted and the McCaskeys are dipshits.

Your opinion? Ted hired a guy who led the team to a Super Bowl appearance. They are fine.

I was wrong on a few predictions. You are wrong on the one thing that everyone agrees on.

I'm still trying to figure out your Bernstein-ish angle defending these guys.

I never said they were fine.

I gave Ted a rightful nod for hiring a GM that did what less than than 2/3's of his peers have done lately. Get a team to the big game. You were unwilling to do even that.

You were wrong in bigfan's predictions.

You were mistaken yourself when you claimed that Marinelli never planned on staying. He did.

I hope that Ted and George make a wise choice, but wouldn't bet either way. And when they are done, I'll give their choices at least two years before deciding either way.

Unless they pull a Trestman after year one and I rightfully announce their impending dismissal 90 days before it happens only to have the post deleted by the board moderator. Again.

There is a report that the Bears have offered Chris Ballard the GM job. Ballard is a guy who worked for Jerry Angelo for 12 years. 12 FUCKING YEARS. I hope his box checking skills are better than Jerry's. Ballard also informed both the Jets & Eagles that he was no longer interested in interviewing with them. Looks like Ballard & Toub are the Bear new dynamic duo. 2 more guys who have been hired to do jobs that they have never ever done before. This is not good.

Fuck.

Ballard seems like a good cat.

Quote:
The former Chicago Bears personnel staff member spent 12 seasons with Chicago, including one season as the Director of Pro Scouting (2012). He spent the previous 11 seasons as the Bears Southwest Area Scout (2001-11). During that time, Ballard helped Chicago draft Pro Bowlers Matt Forte, Johnny Knox, Charles Tillman, Tommie Harris and Nathan Vasher

Supposedly he's an ace in scouting DB talent.

If he gets hired it questions the point of hiring a consultant though.

No it doesn't. I don't care if it looks like perceived wasted money (that doesn't matter at all), I'm glad they got an opinion better than their own.

We'll probably just agree to disagree.

The first name that trickled out after Emery was fired was Ballard. No GM candidates have been formally interviewed yet (I don't think). So if "sources" are already annointing him as new Bears GM I think it's pretty weird.

Which they ignored, to hire a guy who was basically raised based on the same philosophies the Bears have operated with moderate success for decades with.

This hire would be the exact opposite of what they need. The idea is to get new ideas and philosophies into Halas Hall.

Ballard may be a good candidate for someone. He is a bad candidate for the Bears and if the Bears don't realize that then all hope is lost.

Emery/Trestman was just the continuation of the Angelo/Lovie era, and it failed spectacularly, and the answer is now to hire a guy to roll it out again! They should consider getting Angelo as assistant GM. Just go all in!

I'm really hoping this isn't true.

You aren't going far enough.

Clearly, Ballard was the guy on the Bears list as the replacement for Emery for a long time. Accorsi rubber stamped him after the decision was made to simply give some level of legitimacy to it.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to find that Ballard was suggested to Accorsi by Team Teddy rather than the other way around. Accorsi then vetted him to find he met the general requirements of a GM and Team Teddy took it as a confirmation

that super bowl team had a number of Mark Hatley drafted super stars, but yes, he did assemble an amazing defense and he had Devin Hester doing unimaginable things. it was one of the most underwhelming Super Bowl teams and shows a REALLY weak NFC.

Angelo gets some credit, but the Bears were also VERY lucky.

Let's wait to see whom they actually hire. But if the rumors are true, I agree with your line of thinking. Ballard's name was leaked as the likely replacement for Emery at least a week before Emery was formally let go.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ballard wants Greg Gabriel backs as director of scouting, too, along with Ron Turner as offensive coordinator and Dick Jauron as defensive coordinator. Why are the McClaskeys and Sweaty Teddy treating the Angelo Era as though it yielded multiple championships?

Because that era included a Super Bowl appearance, a new stadium deal, and huge financial returns. The teams had super stars which drove millions of $ in merchandising.

it's fools gold and real fans know better, but in their eyes, they saw a healthy bottom line.
