70% of respondents to a poll on the Chicago Tribune website indicate that they believe Chris Ballard is the right choice to fill the Bears GM vacancy.

Not that Hub knows everything, but yesterday he confirmed Ballard to be the front runner. Then he talked both sides of his mouth on how he felt about him.

I guess if he gets hired and it doesn't work, he can't come back in 2 years and say "gee I can't understand this. He was nowhere in any teams radar".

It has been reported that he turned down interviews with at least two teams. Hub will have a hard time claiming no one else's "radar."

From just reading about the other candidates he seems like he has the best qualifications and is the most respected around the league.

But the connection with the Bears makes me nervous.

He is clearly on the radar of other teams which is something that couldnt be said about Emery when he was hired.

Oh my effing God. How can any rational Bears fan want Chris Ballard as the GM? He is exactly what the Bears dont need. What a clown show the McCaskey's are.

Agreed. Hub made it clear he's a good candidate, but had reservations since he spent so much time associated with this trainwreck of an organization.

I cannot for the life of me imagine there aren't more qualified options out there. I have to simply error on the side of caution and eliminate him from consideration based on his time here.

DeCosta in Baltimore should be given an offer he can't refuse...he has the best pedigree that I can see.
