I agree this is a mistake, but with or without Cutler, they are not winning next year or the year after. All I want to see is players drafted that play on Sundays and a Head Coach that's serviceable. Drafting players that play on Sundays will be a giant upgrade.

Its funny that Chris Ballard turned out to actually be the right candidate. He wanted to bring a wrecking ball to Halas Hall, which is exactly what is needed. Instead, the Bears went all in on their stuborn existing structure of failure.

Now that there is no evidence of this assertion, and never was by the way, let's take a step back and look.

I didn't hear a ringing endorsement of Cutler from Pace.

If Ballard made known this was the tipping point, then how smart would have it been to even bring it up after the fact.

I'm not the only one here who still believes that a market for Cutler in Buffalo or Tennessee may still exist.

And even if there is no market, the degrading of any asking price on the way in the door is one stupid way to approach it.

I'm curious why this cat's drafting record has gotten such a pass.

Based on the reports that have trickled out, it seems like Chris Ballard was direct and forthright during the interview with the Bears. Knowing his former colleague Phil Emery failed spectacularly as the Bears GM in just three seasons, it seems like Ballard was interested in the Bears GM job only if he felt he was going to have the organizational support to do the job properly.

I really dont think the Bears (ted and george) offer a lack of support, but I dont feel they are proactive in anything and they question spending.

Mannelly gave that great example of the Pats going to San diego on a Monday to practice all week there for a Sunday game. I am sure that wasnt a last second move on the part of the pats, it was planned and provided for by the organization.

Mannelly said, he didnt think that is something the bears would do. This then says they dont do everything possible to win.

I dont care if I continue to use the great example of the the worst stadium in the NFL, but it is a piece of shit, built with the worst product you can buy. Even the seats are a system that you cant much cheaper, unless you went to mental benches.

Time will tell on this one, but the unique business structure and requirement for income does effect the football side of things.

All said, the oversights the Bears will float over pace are nothing that should stop him from producing a good draft or a bad draft. That one is on him.

There is still NO evidence other than the word of an unemployed scout who stood to possibly benefit from Ballard's hire, that Cutler was a tipping point in getting organizational support.

Ballard wouldn't even interview with other teams allegedly.

I hope Chris Ballard does well in the future.
