Well it isn't my hard on but a couple more points. Matt, regardless of the football decision that gets made the president still give the GM budgetary parameters. Jorr, Theo is a president of baseball if I am not mistaken not a GM. You bet your ass Jed is checking with Theo.

Theo is the GM. Jed is the Assistant GM. I don't care what titles you use. The reason that Theo is called "President, Baseball Ops" is that he wasn't going to agree to reporting to Crane Kenney. Unlike the situation you have with the Bears where a non-football guy who isn't the owner has heavy influence over football decisions.

Here's the only way that Ted's scenario is partially truthful.

Ted tells him he has so much money to spend. A certain budget figure he cannot go over. Have at it. Then Pace is free to do what he wants.

But the way Ted explains it, Ryan can bring in whoever he wants...it's his call, negates having Ryan report to him because their is nothing to report about. Because it's all his calls.

All Ted had to do was not throw in the "Ryan reports to me". But his ego will not allow that. He has to let everybody know that he's still involved in the football side even though he's not.

Matt you are simply hung up on his explaining the Bears corporate flow chart. I will go with that until I am show it is wrong in the next year or two.

I am, Mike. None of this is directed at you.

I cannot stand the fact that an accountant is allowed to have any input in the hiring of the GM and Coach.

He secured a shitty stadium deal and somehow is rewarded for that. And he has been team president for 16 years without a Super Bowl ring. But that doesn't piss Ginny off enough to fire him. But believe me, she's pissed. I understand that Ted has made the McCaskeys a lot of money but if the McCaskeys are so worried about winning championships like they claim, then this guy should have been fired years ago. Because he has failed.

So Kubiak turned the Bears down because he knew that Fox was getting fired, and he will get the Broncos job.

100% true. How many millions were wasted on guys like Marion Barber, Brandon Manumaleuna, Chester Taylor, Marion Barber...even Lovie and Trestman had a year left on their deals so they got paid.

If that happens, let us know.

But this is how shit gets done in the real world. And in the NFL, you have a salary cap. You are not allowed to over spend it. When Emery made the football decision to give Jay that type of cash, no one stopped him. Had he tried to over spend the cap, then Cliff Stein would have stopped him.

You report to someone at work.

Unless you are self employed, and sometimes even then, you report to someone. Period. My wife has no idea what I do, but it's OUR money and I run it past her out of respect. You know, the basis of all healthy human interactions.

Trestman had two years left.

And this reinforces the football stupidity of the McCaskeys.

Think of how many millions have been pissed away on bad deals. At some point, wouldn't you as an owner say "Who in the hell is hiring the GM that's making these bad decisions?" or "Maybe we need someone running the team who knows football?" Not to mention the fact it's been 30 years since their last title. But not these owners.

Totally different situation. Williams was "promoted" so they didn't lose Hahn. But if you don't belive Kenny is sticking his nose in, you're crazy.

Don't even start with the 30 years when you and the board owner have wasted thousands of dollars between you on team that hasn't even sniffed a fucking World Series since WWII.

Maybe you all could try and be a little more consistent in your criticisms. Or perhaps jump on Jerry R for only winning one tiltte in the same time frame.

And if you think that Teddy is telling any GM to go with Kyle Fuller over CJ Moseley then you are just being obsinate for shits and grins.

I didn't say that. I don't think Ted is drafting but hiring a coach and deciding to keep a highly paid horseshit quarterback are football decisions. And Phillips is definitely involved in those.

If the Bears can rid themselves of Cutler's contract they would do it in a New York minute.

Yes I report to someone at work. But my boss isn't stupid enough to say "Matt can do whatever he wants. It's all his call"

Coaches are not under the salary cap so I guess Pace doesn't report back to Ted on that hire, right?

And given the fact that no one tried to stop Emery should tell you that the wrong people are in charge....ABOVE THE GM. Which has been my point all along. Since Pace is reporting to Ted, then Ted should not have opened his mouth and said every football decision will be his....he can bring in whoever he wants and get rid of whoever he wants.

And save your life lessons for someone who needs them.

My criticism is consistent. The Bears are football dipshits. That's who we are talking about. Not the Cubs. I have been very consistent on my criticisms of them also. And you thinking I've wasted "thousands of dollars" on the Cubs shows how little you actually know. I've been to two games in the last 12 years.

The fact remains the Bears have not won a title in 30 years. Your blather doesn't change that fact.

When I said that I meant the cap hit that comes with it.

They can cut him. They are still stuck with cap money though.

Do you think they can contend next year? If not, it doesn't matter.

I see nothing in their current division that two defensive stalwarts couldn't make them into contenders.

The Vikings and Lions are eminently beatable as are the Packers with a defensive scheme.

After yesterday and today, the AFC West doesn't look so formidable anymore.

They aren't contending for shit with Jay Cutler. Better to eat the cap money and begin moving forward sooner rather than later.

Vikings are frisky. I see them as the team on the rise as opposed to the Motor City kitties.

Agree with this and agree that the Vikings are on the rise.
Unfortunately, Aaron Rodgers is still in Green Bay and still elite.

If the Suh hits the free agent market, the Lions could start turning around toward the gutter, but the Bears will be waiting for them. The Bears are a colossal mess. They cannot cover their drafting errors with free agents, since Cutler and Allen will be eating up a huge piece of the cap space pie.

Bears just need to face the fact that they will be bad for 2 years...with or without Cutler...and focus on not fucking up the draft.
