I know its preseason but the toronto has exploited our defense the same ways they would during the regular season. taking advantage of our double teams on the high pick and rolls. their starting center was 3-5 from the 3 point land and was wide open for all 5. Its a disciplined offensive system. playing it safe and getting open shots. You have to keep in mind its their back-up plan when bosh is in the game (sat out w/ minor injury). they continue to find the open man all through the first half. granted we dont have gordon out there but im not sure he's the difference maker on the perimeter. tyrus and especially noah look like they are struggling on offense against torontos 4th and 5th power fowards on the depth chart (Kris Humphries and Jamario Moon). even with kirk out there for much of the first half we had trouble controlling the ball and turned it over 15 times. We had trouble finding open men and toronto capitalized with 11 steals and 4 blocks. the only great thing i could say is that we're stillin hustling and it at least shows on the boards. The score going into the second half is 47-33 toronto. griffin, ben wallace and ben gordon all sat out.

edit: gray was a defensive liability to say the least in the first quarter. His upside remains his inside scoring. He looks almost as good as tyrus on offense sometimes but much softer.

UmFreak,
I got your PM. I suggest you start with the OG thread, then try another thread that has more than 9 pages and I think you'll figure it out.... try and find the thread (I am too lazy to do it) where famous threads were talked about (which was pretty recent)...

HHJ,

No fair. Just posting to add to post totals is frowned upon on this board. :x

Does anyone know why the OG was let go at Sporting News Radio?

But, Hoot, I got them all, didn't I? In theory I beat everyone to the punch, for once....
Plus, I'm bored and everybody is out and about tonight.

UmPhreak is not bad. One post and he edited twice. Maybe his entire posting existence will be that one post. Post, edit, re-edit, re-edit on and on.

Yes, you did. A standard CSFMB welcome. I have nothing better to do either. I wish a baseball game was on.

I wish anything was on tv worth watching. I couldn't resist- it was his first post and then after I said wrong section I got a pm asking where he should have posted it and it really struck my funny cord. I couldn't help myself.
The OG thread is either in ESPN management or the other management section. It is up to 50 pages but gives a nice history of CSFMB. And it's flipping funny.
Hoot are you coming on Sunday?

In my entire posting and lurking carrer I have never spent this much time in the Bulls section... Kobe isn't coming here.
Maybe I'll head over to the hockey section and really light them up!

well i bet the bulls are trying to cash in on their investment so im sure he's in there. but i'll agree he needs to stay in there. i'd like to see tyrus beef up a little bit more also.

I thought we looked like the stronger team in the second half but we did have smith and hinrich in there for a decent amount of time. Raptors were at least 2 or 3 deep in the depth chart at every position except PF where bargnini (he'll start at center when bosh gets back) looked pretty impressive playing the perimeter. Granted he had gray and Noah guarding him out there but I bet Toronto will be able to do that to a lot of teams, especially when bosh gets back and bargnini moves to center.
I thought Joe smith looked like a true veteran stepping in to take a couple nice charges. He had a couple nice mid-range fade aways too and showed good hustle. Sefolosha looked all right for his first game back.
The bulls really turned it around in the turn-over category in the second half and that’s what really helped to bring them back. That and they were able to stop the pick and roll a lot better. I think if we could get our zone going we could play that even better. But we still need to get our younger guys used to our man-to-man rotations. Raptors played big in the paint but that wont happen with Wallace and deng in the game (deng went out really early with a minor injury).
After hatin on grays defense so much in the first half I played a little closer attention and it seems like his D is good enough for a rookie when he knows where he's supposed to be. But I guess being in the right place is part of playing defense. But that’s something that could be easily coached. My prediction for this kid is pretty lofty for a guy that nobody seems to talk about, great back-up or maybe even a decent starter for most teams by the start of next season. He has a great inside game and he can bring centers out of the box with his jumper. If he raises his defensive IQ a little bit I wouldn’t mind giving him 14-18 minutes of the bench this year if his match-up isn’t bad. We won’t have Wallace forever and gray could easily end up stepping in to fill in a lot of those minutes at some point in his career. I’d like to try and develop him while we can.

another thing worth mentioning is that both the bulls and the raptors have great disciplined bench players and i think the raptors won that battle. I dont expect that to happen too much this year against the bulls but my hats off to toronto's secondary unit. Great D with minimal mistakes against our young back-ups.

Jason, are you drunk? I don't want you to chase UmPhreak away. He has basketball thoughts. We need more like him.

I thought HHJ's "hazing" was a little over the top. That is, until I read this statement. My only hope is that if you post on here 18 times a day, you don't spend every post trying to get the last word in on every argument.

Nice thoughts, by the way. I think Gray has sleeper potential, too.

But i have to have his back, he's very passionate about sports and hes a good friend.
