I understand that the Patriots may favor deflated balls. I'm just not sure how deflated balls favor the Patriots. I think calling it "cheating" is a little over the top. It's more like watering down the first base line when you're afraid to face the awesome speed of a lineup featuring Fowler, Alcantara, and Castro.

And I just heard that Aaron Rodgers prefers overinflated balls. (You can insert your own joke.) I don't believe the condition of the balls makes anything "easier". It's really just a preference, liking saying blondes are better than brunettes.

It's not a competitive advantage, like having an over-inflated ball that would go farther when you kick it.

It's a preference - Aaron Rodgers prefers just the opposite.

Maybe a fine/suspension/loss of a draft draft pick, but chain-of custody issues mean nothing more than that will come of it, especially since the league was made aware of it before.

The Brad Johnson story (if true) is much troubling for the league.

Actually you can get a ball that is underinflated further than a overinflated one. A overinflated one will not compress as much.

From what I'm hearing from all these sources, all the quarterbacks weighing in, setting up the balls a certain way has always been accepted and nobody ever says shit, regardless of the letter of the rule. And now the Colts got embarrassed and everyone hates Belichick so they rolled this out there. It's similar to Johnny Evers and Bonehead Merkle. I hope the outcome won't be the same.
