I cannot think of anyone more inconsequential than an OC behind Peyton Manning. Bears blew this one. His name might as well be Adam Passed Gas.

Weis would have been much better. It would have been great to have him just to be a thorn in Bernstein's side for hating him for no reason.

Gase?

Good. Fine. Whatever.

Nobody know if he's good or bad since he was just a fan on the sideline with a headset. Hopefully he learned from Manning.

I think he's capable of hearing Fox say stack the line and give the ball to Forte or Yeldon.

Yeah. But don't tell what's his name on this board. He wanted him to be OC despite the fact that he is...ya know...a DC. To him that was a minor detail that should be over looked.

If he does well, he'll be gone in a year. So, not really too excited about it.

Dignified Rube: The Bears should hire Eric Mangini to be their OC.

Douchebag: Mangino would be better

Beardown: What a rube, doesn't he know Mangini is a defensive guy!!!

Girl chained to Beardown's furnace: Wasn't he the 49'ers Tight Ends coach this year?

Beardown:  :x

GCTBF:

Beardown:

Truth be told, even though he was an offensive assistant this year, Mangini would be a terrible option as the bulk of his background is defense...and the teams he coached had some pretty shitty offenses.

Was hoping it was Weis, he is a legit playcaller in the NFL. I don't care how big of an asshat he is.

I'm not all that bothered by it being Gase tho tbh. He worked with Manning, Jay Cutler is a nobody next to him -so I don't see a scenario where Gase puts up with Cutlers childish bullcrap.

seems like he really likes to pass the ball. That plus Cutler is not a good recipe.

Yeah doesn't Manning completely call his own plays? I guess something would have to rub off. He was an "offensive assistant" for the 08 49ers under the Singletary/Martz regime. So he has that going for him.

He must be a psychopath. I think Cutler sees it as a challenge to see how fast he can get these guys fired.

Are you that dim? Mangini last coached TEs at the 49ers. Last time I checked that's offense.

Per Wikipedia, "Mangini was hired by the 49ers as a Senior Offensive Consultant on June 4, 2013. On February 20, 2014, he was announced as Tight Ends coach of the 49ers."

Not overly impressed.

I would have at least waited a week and interviewed Chudzinski

No he wasn't. The Patriots literally didn't miss Weis at all. The offense was as good or better pretty much every year after he left.

In the 90s he was OC for the Jets (forget which year) when they finished 4th overall in offense. Recently we was responsible around 2010 for brining the Chiefs a top 10 offense which was #1 in rushing. He is also credited with teaching and installing the offense the Patriots run to this day - the Perkins something, I forget the name of it. Either way, the Pats are not his only Pro successes.

He is legit and there is a trail of success he helped out with at pretty much every stop in the NFL he has had.

I think he is an ass wipe for the record, bit he is the real thing coaching wise.

Charlie Weis was Patriots OC from 2000-2004. During his 5 seasons as OC, Patriots won three Super Bowls. Since he left the team, the Patriots have not won another Super Bowl.

It seems the percentage of top-10 offenses were much greater after Weis's departure than when he was there.

And it seems their winning pct% in the Super Bowl was much greater when he was there.

Look, I'm not saying he is Bill Walsh here, but in the NFL there has been success for him pretty much everywhere he has been wether its coaching players up for their best seasons as a pro while a position coach, or coaching highly ranked offenses on several different teams: KC, NYJ or NE.

Rick said he isn't missed in a way that he seemed to be passing off anything Charlie has done in the pro's as credit due only to Billy B and Brady -I was pointing out that this simply isn't true as he has had success elsewhere that had nothing to do with either Brady or Belicheat.

And yes, I am aware you weren't responding directly to me. Either way it doesn't matter, we have Gase. Just food for thought I spose

Are you seriously crediting the offensive coordinator as the difference there?

He isn't missed in New England, at all. ALL the credit goes to Billy B and Brady in New England.

Do you also view Romeo Crennel as an elite coordinator?
