What about Petty in the 2nd round?

One of the mock drafts sites I read had the Bears picking him in the 4th round.

That same mock draft had players in a position where the Bears could potentially select -

1st - Collins, S
2nd - McKinney, LB
3rd - Ekpre-Olomu, CB
4th - Petty, QB

That would be a pretty excellent start, IMO. That mock actually had the Bears taking TCU LB Paul Dawson in the 2nd. He seems like more of a high floor guy. I'd rather have McKinney who they have going 2 spots later. I still say McKinney goes in the mid-1st after he rockets in the combine.

TJ Yeldon was also available in that mock 2nd. I'm curious if he would intrigue John Fox. I like Yeldon.

It will be interesting to see what happens with that Bears first pick. Everybody assumes D. But, Fox might want a road-grader to run behind like Andrus Peat. The Bears did scout a couple Stanford games. You could probably still get a S like Drummond from MSU in the 3rd round.

I'm interested in Marcus Peters. He's the best cover CB and probably overall CB in the draft. Sure, he got kicked off UW's team for strangling a coach on the sideline but you need guys with that kind of edge. He's likely to be there in the 2nd round and he's a top 15 talent overall.

It is far too early to be projecting rounds for these guys.

Not a draft expert but I'd love him on the Bears.

Obviously not with the 7th pick but I'd take him in the second round.

I cannot find anything on his 40 time. One sight projected his 40 time as 4.6

Luc might end up going higher. He's just a big 2-down LB that can stuff the run and is pretty bad dropping into coverage. So, pull him out on 3rd downs.

Some people say his a little on the fat side and could balloon up. It doesn't seem that way to me.

Cincinnati linebacker Jeff Luc and Yale fullback Tyler Vargas both wowed during weigh-ins, but neither followed up with impressive play on the field. Luc is simply too stiff and doesn't play with functional strength, while Vargas isn't a true blocker at fullback.

He was a last minute replacement on Wednesday when the QB they invited decided he's a better CB than QB and switched.
