Beckham is a nice bench guy. No idea why you'd cut Viciedo now. Maybe he tears up spring training and you can deal him.

1 year and 2 mil mil Beckham is good (there in no sucjh thing as a bad one year deal) ... the Sox need defense not a bat and he is a better bet than Sanchez or Michca and certainly a step above Bonifacio...this is a move a contender makes.

DFA'd means the Sox have 10 days to TRADE him (probably already done)...or he then goes to waivers and can be claimed...if no one claims him (which will not happen) he can then sign where ever he chooses or he can accept a spot with the Sox in the minors. Wait for the trade to be announced SOON.

Bonifacio was in the same boat last year with KC. You can't do this if he was on a previous MLB contract, a situation unique to arbitration awards

How the hell could you hate Beckham? That's like hating Mick Kelleher or Steve Dillard.

I think it had to do with a hatred of fans getting excited about young but unproven guys that look like they could be really good and then enjoying the fall when those sky high expectations are not reached.

lets just remember the Sox signed a fan fave (GORDO!) and the first thing BRick thinks is how Cubs fans will mock it....I would think it is expected. Maybe sign him a couple more times over the next 7 years and cut him a few times.
