It's not often that I'll go out and support Big Fan 100%, but he was right on every level in this thread. Cubs' fans have taken a pounding from Sox fans because they have their World Series victory, and the different strategies in rebuilding. The Sox have done it without purposely tanking, while the Cubs have been historically bad. So Big Fan lays out a bet, and no one offers up. Screw the excuses about odds and injuries. If you think your team is better at rebuilding, then put up or shut up. Let's be honest, it's the tallest midget award anyway.

I didnt really lay out the bet, I just took the post and was ready to take the other side.

But crickets for the other side. didnt even get a BRick, make it $2005.00! Silence.

I wouldn't expect Cubs fans to understand that I was busy working.

I laid out my counter proposal to you which was perfectly consistent with my original statement. This is a three part play:

1. Total Sox wins v. total Cubs wins over the next three years for 1 unit

AND

2. Total Sox wins v. total Cubs wins in each of the next three years respectively for 1 unit each (keeps an anomalous year from skewing things)

AND

3. The difference in the number of Sox wins v. Cub wins over the next three years for a nominal number per difference in wins (ex. Sox +25 over three years, then 25 of whatever number is decided)

We can define units after the terms have been mutually agreed upon.

So You and JORR assume that when Good Dolphin stated he would place his money on the Sox over the next 3 years, he meant he would do so with a money line of +150 or better?

Keep trying, you guys lost this one.

I assume nothing. GD can speak for himself.

The Cubs have shorter odds to win the World Series, so it stands to reason that Vegas expects them to win more games. Do you make a habit of making bets where you get less than true odds? I do not.

Compared to the attendance championship, is this victory more important, less important, or equally important?

With the waves and waves of talent on the way to Wrigley, shouldn't Cubbie Nation be aiming a bit higher than winning a few more games than the worst organization in baseball?

The fact you have been on all day and this is the reasoning for not accepting the implied wager, its just weak. Everyone knows it.

There was an offer to make a wager, I said OK and now CHUS and JORR are asking for Odds? lol You want to keep telling me thats a "stand Up" move go ahead.

I'm not asking for anything. I never had any intention of making any wagers.

Stand up move? It's a pissing contest.

I guess a guy like you pisses $1000.

CHUS "I bet $100 I can make this shot"
ME "OK, you're on"
CHUS "Well you gotta give me odds"

I have to say I feel somewhat responsible for this for calling attention to good dolphin's post.

That said....carry on.

Why? Does MLB award a team the one who should have won the World Series if not for the Tommy John surgey.

yes, you did, now can I call your in house legal to work on the document that defines the parameters.

Here I was for years making simple wagers...with a handshake and a 3 second explanation.

"...and over the next 3 years, who do you think will have the better record? I would put my money on the Sox." Good Dolphin

didnt know this would take a negotiation....

I know I didnt go to Law School, but thats not what you posted? even though I am willing to work around such issues....I will look at this when I get back from working out, something I wouldn't expect Sox fans to understand.

It's official. Under Cubs and Over Sox is a better bet than this thread was.

Good job Sox Subdivision on not taking the bait!

BRick has had too much time on the COC

The wager and subject here didnt need any further refinement, explanation, confusion, legal mumbo jumbo.

Sox fans got called out and didnt answer the bell. Its simple.

I Got GD turning a simple wager into a 3 part mini series.

I got JORR and CHUS telling me about Odds needed and money lines in Vegas? Hey, if your team/organization is better, a straight up bet is the essence.

...and please remember I just accepted the bet, I didnt offer it.

Now, you and all of Sox nation can add to the story, change it, tell me something else happened, go to your 10 year celebration, your 1 year Konerko day, your 'The state just gave us $5 mill day", etc....

All that said...when push came to shove, all the talking......empty.

I rarely visit here.

You called out Good Dolphin. Not ALL Sox fans.

I will go $400 for this year alone.

And double or nothing if I win this year, or pay off if I lose.

I guess.

The Cubs (who I would presume you feel went into full tank mode) have won 200 games over the past 3 seasons with 0 playoff appearances.
The Sox (who you state didn't go into full tank mode) have won 221 games over the past 3 seasons with 0 playoff appearances.

I'm guessing most sox fans would gladly trade those 21 total wins in exchange for the the Cubs farm system right now.

and over the next 3 years, who do you think will have the better record?

I would put my money on the Sox.

As stated, it's really an $800 bet that the Sox will win more games two years in a row.
