My question is why would Belichick not call timeout in the last minute?

I thought they had one left.

I wonder if Caroll was expecting Belichick to call time out there and it led to a rushed insanely bad play call

Terrible call. You dont worry about setting yourself up with 2 downs and a timeout in that situation. There's 30 seconds left, you just do your best to score

New England staff gets some credit for the Butler INT. Had the kid ready for the slant and Butler got there first. Well coached play.

Another game where coaching makes a difference. He was beat on the same play in practice.
