"does do that", "they do do that"

Anybody else notice that Dougie never uses 'does' on its own?

Come to think of it, yeah, but it's not as egregious as a double negative, I do suppose.

More annoying than that is him saying "there's no question" and "the fact is" every other sentence. I might pull out some of my old bag of tricks and start counting the number of times he says it per hour. Although that was one of the most painful times of my life counting the drops on Murph's show. Brutal.

Part of it is being from Pittsburg. Part of it is being a little senile. Part of it is he's just dumb.

Dan Marino is just like Doug with his speech. Marino has 2 of the above traits. Marino's not senile yet.

I always cut Doug slack on this kind of stuff. He did play at higher levels(sorry), and does have a generally solid insight into sports. He clearly is passionate and he throws in some of the best nuggets the station has ever produced. Aside from all of that, he genuinely seems like a pretty good guy and a good(funny) listen from time to time.

Is he smooth, or a well polished radio professional, no, but that's exactly why the Score caught on in the first place.

I am not complaining. I'll take dougie talking bears over nearly anything else on the radio. Like Beano, I am so happy baseball is over and we can hear football talk nightly.

Having lived in PA, I'm not sure the 'does do' is learned there. However, dropping the 'to be' verb is.

"The car needs washed"

I will not tolerate any criticism of Doug Buffone. He's one of my favorite Score guys.
