Good for Mark and even better for listeners of Cubs radio.
As was already stated, Thank God Mattabattacola (his parents are big Salpalantonio fans) or another minion of the Score King didn't get the gig.

I don't often feel sorry for Sox fans but having the smarmy Jared from Subway clone as their host is punishment I wouldn't wish on ISIS.

Grote is single, right? So that would be cool traveling with the club.

I think it's gonna be tough for him, though. I'm not trying to joke. Getting back from the game at 11pm, all the writers, players and broadcasters hit the hotel bar, gonna be tempting. What do you do? Always go back to your hotel room? Sit in the bar watching everybody else drink?

Since everybody with the Cubs knows he was in rehab, he really can't grab a beer with them. Cuz they'll all give him that look.

I wish him well with that.

He was a jagoff when he was active on CSFMB.

What are some of the "Non Sox stuff" that he's a prick about on social media? Don't tell me he's fighting about politics.

Rongey is a Cardinal fan talking down to Sox fans. I never minded Wills calling a Sox fan a "drillrod" because he was a Sox fan himself. Rongey just comes off as an asshole telling me how great Beckham and Viciedo are while the team he cheers for is winning World Series.

Yes.

I see him posting on Herb's page a lot.

However, Dave Wills held that position and had no problems when he gave it to the Sox for poor performance. It made him beloved and gained him a promotion. Wills, however was just some south sider with nothing to lose.

He may be a great guy in person, but he sucks on the radio. Like all White Sox announcers, he seems employed for the sole purpose of driving people away from the sport of baseball.

Yeah, he got really upset when a few posters dubbed him JERRY REINSDORF'S CABANA BOY.

Rongey is the worst kind of idiot--an idiot who is so idiotic that he not only fails to comprehend his own idiocy, but also idiotically interprets that idiocy as intelligence.

If I can put my Beardown hat on (very quickly) :D , Drinky has to be kind of pissed right? Probably feels like he'll never be nothing more than just an occasional fill-in host or B&B producer.

I wouldn't hire drinky to be the pre- and post- host for a T-ball team. He will be carrying Bernstein's jock until he's 65.

Maybe he applied for this Cubs gig for the hell of it. But if drinky really thought he had a shot at it then he's dumber than I thought. Beneath that cocky, arrogant personality, don't you think he knows he sucks?

Ahhhhhh, tough game for the kids tonight, they, ahhh, they struggled with the fact that the ball wasn't moving, because it's, ahhh, it's on a tee, you see. T-ball. The ball's on a tee. So, ahhhh, not goin' anywhere. They'll, ahhhh, have to work on that for the next, ahhhh, next game. 312.644.6767, wanna hear whatchoo, ahhh, thinka this one.

Then again, he constantly fails at comedy during his updates. I mean they are really bad jokes. Most people couldn't even try to be that unfunny. That's an indication that he has no idea he sucks. Cuz if he did, he'd stop the comedy attempts.

So maybe he does think he's talented and that Mitch and Zim are holding him down. Maybe he really is dumb enough to think that.

unless Bernstien somehow snags a bigger gig. I bet he wouldn't hire drinky to go along with him

Back in 2012, I attended a wedding in Indianapolis. i was still married at the time, and the bride-to-be was a college roommate of my ex-wife's. Long story short, the groom was a long-time friend of Grote's and we all went to college at ISU the same time. yes...I know you're happy for me.

Grote is a cool guy on and off the air. Congrats to him.

I've noticed Mark Grote has kind of a verbal tic where he tends to enunciate the last word of each sentence with extra emphasis.
