The numbers are good but Walking Dead is a force of nature. It beat Sunday Night Football a couple times last season.

Tonight will be the test

One "hidden" character that I read about this morning was in the Cinnabon in the black & white "flash forward". The guy who Saul believes recognizes him is Badger's cousin from a few episodes early in Breaking Bad. He was the guy who let Jesse store the RV in his junk yard.

I think that's been confirmed, but not until season 2 or 3. It's going to be filmed in a pre, during and post breaking bad timeline.

Yes but Gilligan isn't going to blow his wad too early. Cameos need to be rare. Part of my enjoyment watching this last night was looking for hints & similarities to BB. The production, cinematography and the use of darkness & whatnot was obviously very similar to BB.

That didn't look like the same guy to me.

Gilligan flat out said Walter White won't be making a cameo anytime soon which I think is smart. They don't want this thing to be a gimmick.

They also said a Jesse cameo would be difficult because Jesse would have been in High School when this starts but they didn't rule it out somehow.

I wonder if they are going to spend more time in the present Cinnabon Saul world. I wouldn't have thought so going into the series but now I think that's a real possibility. Maybe not so much this season but going forward.

The lead in tonight is the Breaking Bad finale episode. I think I'll watch that again.

I read it in an article earlier this morning, but can't find it now, and I can't find any other information about it. Must have just been a debunked internet rumor.

I don't recall - did he explicitly reference working in a Cinnabon (as a likely spot he would end up if he runs) in a BB episode?

EDIT: Check that - found it: http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/cinnabon- ... bad-153032

I forgot about this too. Episode 64, the episode when Saul says its over and leaves to go into hiding is on right now. So he actually did move to Omaha to manage a Cinnabon.

I just watched the final episode of Breaking Bad again on AMC. This might be the single best episode in TV history. Just brilliant.

Why does Saul need to ground himself when he goes to his Brothers house and why does his Brother have no electricity?

I didn't see the episode but electricity is a bit more dangerous when you're grounded?

He hasn't been right in his head since Squiggy left him to become a baseball scout.

Ozymandias was the best episode of television ever.

He's fearful of electromagnetism.

I laugh because my youngest son is deathly afraid of static electricity and carries a "shocker guard" of metal to touch people with before they make contact.

Yep. It's why he had to put his watch and cellphone in the mailbox.

I never know that there were people who had a paranoia about electromagnetism.

Holy shit...this show is very very good, and closer to Breaking Bad than I expected.

Very good -- this is delivering on all the promises of what it would be. Granted, just two episodes to draw conclusions off of, but the pacing of the story seems to be excellent.

is this covered in BB at all? i never saw an explanation but i just had a feeling this was related to his brother trying to "get better".

agreed about episode 2, although the tone shifts were a little harder to get used to in this one. still odenkirk is really owning this. the acting all around is strong.

Kind of a different role than Im used to seeing McKean play but he's great and I bet he wins awards.

Great show. All in.

Tuco warning the dude to stop helping was hilarious

Agreed. Loved it. Hooked. Must see TV.

If I HAD to be hypercritical Id say that part was a little far fetched.

I just feel like Saul's character would have left those dudes high and dry (dead) but maybe he was worried it'd get tied to him somehow

I'm not sure I agree.

His BB version was pragramtic and ruthless to make money for sure, but all of that was on top of a layer of compassion and the ability to remove himself from the situation and realize things have gone too far.

The part I found maybe slightly far fetched is that Tuco wouldn't fly off the handle and slash his throat (I know they were trying to show what a smooth talker/great lawyer he could really be)

Wikipedia mentioned McKean's affliction as a mental illness, I figured it was some form of cancer

More farfetched than that machine gun rig that Walt used to take out Jack and the Nazis?

This show has a whole different vibe than Breaking Bad. When Tuco first appeared in BB he was terrifying. In Saul he's hysterically funny. I'm not sure if that's because the writers are giving this a different tone or if it's because of what we already know. Probably a little bit of both.
