How about a consistent strike zone? Tennis has the cyclops system. No reason MLB doesn't have a fully electronic K-zone at this point.

You need a larger, more consistent strike zone to force hitters to go up there and swing. If you tighten the strike zone, they are going to take even more pitches. Call the full plate from knees to letters.

so they want to boost hits but they want the games to take longer. Got it.

You want to shorten your games, enforce the strike zone. this is ridiculous.

Chicks dig the 12 pitch walk.

I would be OK with the intentional walk...dont need the 4 pitches thrown

That saves one minute per game, maybe two. I agree with you, but it isn't a meaningful change.

I'm not a guy that needs to speed up the pace, as I've made known.

But if you have to, start with:

Enforcing the time limit pitchers have to make their next pitch.
Keep batters in the box.
Limit mound visits per inning.

You know, that MAY have happened if not for that wild pitch thrown in the playoffs last Oct. on an intentional walk. I don't remember which team did it, but the announcers where ALL OVER the importance of making all 4 throws. I remember thinking: Shit! One wild pitch out of 10,000 this season and it's gonna gum up the future works to speed up the game!

I'm thoroughly convinced the sole purpose of this new regime is to make Bud Selig look good by comparison.

Hell no. The wild pitch on the intentional walk is one of the most hilarious things ever. Why would you want to take that away from the game?

Wonder what the walk-rate/OPS is for batters immediately following an IBB.

A batter could also Chet Lemon one for an RBI hit.

To amplify imessedup's ideas: I would say that the batter could step out of the box at his own risk, but time is not called unless something else, like a fake break from the runner on 1B, or after a knock down pitch.

And why so many catcher visits to the mound? Molina drives me crazy....why the fuck can't he just yell out to the pitcher "Throw strikes"! Everybody in the park knows that's what he's thinking.

Get rid of the damn velcro gloves they love to adjust after every pitch, and every step-off! Get back the snaps!

Get the camera off the hitter approaching the plate! Why? The veterans may not give a shit, but the others crave TV time. It's a natural impulse. Why the fuck did they work so hard to get here in the first place? To be seen and RECOGNIZED as a good ball player. In the old days ball players played to the crowd, and that was good. Now they all but ignore the fans in the park, reluctant to make eye contact or even tip a hat. It's all about the TV cameras.

Except for 3 or 4 KEY AB's in a game, I would rather see the camera pan the crowd instead of watching a slow walking dude spit and adjust his crotch on the way to the batters box.

PLus it would speed up the game by, what maybe 45 seconds? Limit visits to the mound by the catcher, and call the strike zone as its written (letters to knees), and the time of game will decrease.

In reality, MLB just needs to go to some sort of timeout system just like all the other major sports leagues have. Maybe allow 3-5 "timeouts" per game for mound visits/strategizing with manager. Any subsequent mound visit must result in a pitching change or other substitution.

I think three to five catcher/fielder trips per game is a great idea. Coach visits, keep rules as they are.

Hitters sometimes hit attempted IBB pitches. Cabrera had a nice one as I remember.

With the Cubs loaded up on exceptional young hitters, this would be great!

This is just dumb. Make the game go faster but the actual game is pretty good.
