I don't think you know what clickbait is...

Listicles are different than record predictions in professional sports.

You're trying too hard to save the point you never had.

I find the whole baiting discussion distracting

Come on, Man....one guy on the roster seeing 6 pitches per AB ain't gonna wear any pitcher out. How can you have a leadoff hitter that gets 56 doubles?!! That guy has to bat 3rd!

You want a guy with a .375 slugging percentage batting third?

That was one season.

But Matt Carpenter is good in the leadoff spot.

And a doubles hitter is fine in the 3 spot. I'd rather an all-around good hitter hit 3 and power come from 4.

Well I figured since he was cherry picking the guys best season in a particular category to support his argument, I can do the same.

I'd be fine with Carpenter batting in a different spot if I thought they would have a better choice in the lead off spot...but I just don't see it.

Don't play down to the competition.

Unless you are completely gaming the system for a high draft pick.

How about Jon Jay? He was the team's only .300 hitter and in spite of missing almost 2 months to injury he still lead the league in HBP (or was close) and of course, he has no power. Carp can muscle up when he's not "working" the count. Remember those 3 homers in 3 games that helped beat the Dodgers last October?

Well, I like you a lot more now that you mention Jay in the lead off role, but I think Matheny has shown he has no intention of ever batting him in the top of the order with any regularity.

As for Carp, those three homers were impressive, but he doesn't really strike me as being anything more than a 12-15 HR/yr guy, even if he changed his approach to "muscle it up" as you say. He's a guy who clearly sees the ball well, isn't afraid to swing if he thinks he knows what's coming, and will force even the 'The Greatest Pitcher in the Game, and it isn't. even. close.' to throw a lot of pitches before he can move on to the next guy in the order.

As compared to

Geovany Soto (invite to spring training. Would be a backup at best)
Tony Campana (was going for the backup OF spot, gone for season anyway)
Emilio Bonifacio (bench player)
Gordon Beckham (2nd base, or bench player. Could do a lot worse)

Additionally, something cannot be clickbait if the headline is "Top 30 Predictions"
When you want to talk about the real Sox move this offseason, let me know.

Tit for tat. Look at what I responded to.

Rebuilding with 30 year-old and over players will be interesting.
