It's Lent. Give me your best spots. I don't want to hear about a place that sells fried fish. I want the places that have a designated Friday night special these next six weeks.

Bobby's Barrel Inn here in the 'Moor has a great fish fry.
Also the Thirsty Whale in Algonquin Commons is pretty good.
I may have low Fish Fry standards.

Don's Dock in Des Plaines on NW Highway. Small place that has been there for decades. excellent greasy popcorn shrimp.

Yeah, if you dare, poke around that weird patch of creepy lake towns between Antioch, Lake Geneva, and Kenosha. Twin Lakes, Silver Lake, Paddock Lake, Camp Lake, Powers Lake. I bet you can find some bar or supper club that has a mean Friday Fish Fry. You'll also find some creepy Deliverance folks. Might be worth a trip if the Dolphinmobile can handle gravel roads.

I'm not a huge fish fry guy, but mcbrides is jam packed at Katie O'Connor's on Friday's for their fish fry. It's pretty good, but you'd probably have to know somebody to get a seat at a reasonable hour.

The Croatian Club in Joliet. I went there last night. The fish is really good and the parsley potatoes are outstanding.

I saw an ad in the Daily Herald for this place yesterday. Apparently they sell fresh & frozen fish. Any good Jimbo?
