Wouldn't surprise me. Then Dan can talk about how Rod and Mitch always get the call right.

Replace Finfer with Terry, Mully, Matty, or rambling Grimace and the statement holds true. But at least Finfer is likeable

Abbatacola, Finfer, or Goff.

Hiring someone outside the Chicago market would be surprising. Need a known commodity after the Mannelly hire - someone already in the building or someone that was. Announcement likely this week, per Spiegel's Twitter.

You're probably right. While it made for good radio, he probably should have reeled it in a bit that day he learned that the station was folding.

I caught some of Joe O this weekend. He said "I have no idea who the new midday host will be. I'm just as interested to find out as you guys."

Then I started thinking, do drinky, Joe and Goff while he was there actually go into Mitch's office and apply for these openings? Or at least pitch themselves?

I'm thinking they don't. They just sit back and figure the boss will call on them one day when these jobs open.

I'd say to them "What do you have to lose?". Maybe Mitch and Zim would be impressed by that.

If they aren't marching into Mitch & Rods office to tell them that they are interested in the job, then they deserve to be relegated to a producers role. You gotta speak up & go after what you want in life. Being passive wont get you anywhere...except for Mitch of course!

Yeah. Like I said, when I heard Joe say "I'm interested to find out" you knew he didn't pitch himself to Mitch or Zim. I don't think any of them do. Why not? These openings don't come around very often. Obviously all of these producers want to advance to "full time hosts". It just shocks me that they wouldn't talk to their bosses. Not demanding. Just go in confident telling them that you can "deliver". Like I said, any boss would love to see that. Even if he doesn't hire you, you are now in his mind for the next time. When the next time comes, do the same thing.

Today during transition Spiegel said Bernstein is younger than him?!? Gotta give props to Spiegel for having genes that are resistant to overeating and alcohol abuse. Or perhaps I'll send money (never prayers) to Bernstein for having genes that've aged him 20 years beyond his age.

I agree. Somebody said that Spiegel said the announcement will come later in the week. Rozner is in all week. Why wait if it's him? So it's not.

That's what I thought, also. They aren't going to have a big announcement and the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT IS....the guy sitting right here that's been here for 2 days.

They have to announce the guy and the debut so they can build it all up.

I'm guessing a former The Game host. Maybe that Jordan Bernfield guy.

Grote & Rosenbloom in for LoHo tonight. They've never done that.

Laurence is getting middays and they're demo-ing some combo of Rosenbloom & whoever for nights. Grote won't be able to do a night show.

Wait. Just 6 months ago Larry sent out a letter to his adoring fans saying that he doesn't want the midday show. Wouldn't take it if offered. Because he wants to dedicate himself to Joe and Herb. He said he can't bare the thought of them not having him. I cried when I read it. So did Joe and Herb but for a different reason.

Now he's gonna renege on that pledge? That's bad optics.

A cynic would say Larry only wrote that because he knew Mannelley would be getting the job. So he took the opportunity to make himself look like somebody who cares about his underlings. Not me. I'm just saying a cynic would.

Spiegel though had worked as a producer at The Score for several years prior to joining Sporting News Radio, so he did have ties to the station and Chicago at the time of his hiring for The Score's midday co-host job.

Would love to see it, would shut down the Score for me.

But thats just not Learys gig. learys gig is that he retains a job in exchange for 30 fill in shows a year....all included in his deal. He gets no extra cash for the sub days, like everyone else. IN other words, he is the bitch of the Score. He is below every producer that gets paid to fill in....even for him.

Plus, I will give Larry enough credit to know, that show is a disaster waiting...and he would be out of a job sooner rather than later.

Go for it, I wish them good luck.

Find the whole thing amusing that Mitch is almost anchored to the guy he didnt want, now they need to come to grips with someone else that they can live with.

Gonne go something in the CSN realm like a Mark Schnowiski(sp?)
