I am down 5 lbs in the last 10 days and been hitting the gym. Still need to eat better but
making some better choices. I told myself if I lose the first 15-18 lbs I would buy myself something
that I had been looking at so that has been a little bit motivating.

Made it to the gym 4 of 7 days last week. In college I had callouses from lifting regularly. Need those to come back. My soft silky hands aren't adapting well.

I suck. My lifestyle is not conducive to weight loss.

Goal is 220 by the first day of spring.

228 yesterday :thumleft:

Started doing the Weider Ruthless DVDs (T-25 knockoff for about $100 less) about 2 weeks ago, and along with Kirkwood have been logging at myfitnesspal.com . Picked up a blowout Jawbone Up for $29 - not that it really gives me any real substantial data, as much as it is a physical tracking reminder of why I got it in the first place. With the minimal investment, I am already way ahead on reaching my initial goal, and from there I would really love to drop another 15 before the summer is out.

Understand what denis said about not having to be so precise with following MFP as long as you mind what you are eating and drinking, but not only does it make you accountable in "print", but as you log stuff in, you can adjust what you eat on the fly to achieve that day's goals, and see what you can and can't really afford to have the rest of the day. I have been eating a much higher percentage of fruits and vegetable, less carbs and red meat, yet I feel full more often than not (and I am shooting for 1800 net calories per day). Plus, I have found it addictive as hell.

I think this week is a little bit misleading, as I'm guessing yesterday's snow shoveling had a lot to do with it. Again, definitely a long way to go, but I'm feeling a lot better already.

Hit the treadmill yesterday and I'll admit I haven't been as steadfast as I should be but I knocked out 2 miles in under 22 minutes. Pretty slow at a
1.0 incline I know but it is a decent point of reference. I am down to 246. I didn't think that the time was too bad for a guy my size. I should be
able to knock it out in under 20 easily if I keep at it.

January started rough. February has been much smoother with regular workouts.

My workouts have improved but I was lazy with my eating. So no progress weight wise since Jan 1.

Diet is so freaking important.

While traveling in Detroit this week, I realized that I am a better dieter while on the road than when I am home. I work out of my house so when I am home I am sitting all day and the refridge is a short walk from my office. When I am traveling, I am busy seeing customers, my sales guys and distributors all day, then after dinner I am in my hotel room with no food temptation. I am down 3 pounds from when I left on Monday. I need to travel more.

the only part of being on the road that isn't total misery is occasionally finding a decent restaurant and killing a steak and a few glasses of cab.

I have always thought it would be kind of fun to have a job that involves travel. My brother in law frequently goes to London, Rio, Hong Kong, New York and Los Angeles. He hates it.

I have turned down jobs that require international travel & will never ever accept one. No thanks.

When my son goes to college, I would like to look for a domestic sales travel job. I would not want to travel overseas though.

My kids are all out of the house. I love my Wife, but sometimes it is great to hit the road & spend a few days with the guys.
Sometimes Mrs. Scorehead goes with me depending on her schedule.

It's not "real" weight loss.

Just losing water.

I know the money would be better and I have turned down opportunities now because of my situation. I would love to do it for a period of time, it is not like I would have to do it for next 20 years or anything like that.

UMN probably said this before, and any health conscious person could tell you...do not fret over weight. it's cholesterol level, blood pressure, and cardio health that's important. maintain a high metabolism and you'll be fine...it's keeping it up that's tricky.
