With respect for Pittmike, Bagels and Hatchetman can use this thread to argue that Popovich giving all his starters a rest at the same time makes the NBA infinitely better than Duke and North Carolina trying to kill each other on a random Tuesday night in Durham.

I'll once again put this disclaimer in.

If you like the NBA better, then that is your right and I understand why. The NBA has advantages over college.

That doesn't mean the thread title is incorrect though.

We have posters who have focused on minor league baseball for 5+ years.

I don't watch either, but I used to. Whatever floats your boat. college basketball is to the NBA what little league baseball is to MLB. you can like watching little league baseball. its OK.

Do you intentionally make bad thoughts?

I'd say there is a better level of baseball to compare it to.

you could put minor leaguers in a big league game and you wouldn't even notice the difference.

 Not the minor leagues either.

There is a level of baseball that is VERY similar to college basketball.

nobody's ever seen a college baseball game. which is the way college sports SHOULD be.

NCAA basketball interests me for the fact that there are more teams, more new faces and stories that relate to each team. NCAA tournament
basketball is some of the best sporting theater there is with underdogs and spectacular one off performances from either teams or individual
players. After the first week and when the field has been paired down to the final 8 it can tend to lose its luster if you don't really have a dog
left in the fight or a team that you have glommed onto. The regular season is a much more difficult watch. I'll go out of my way to watch
Illini basketball if it is on or some Big Ten matchups but don't usually care about the Pac-12 for example.

I'll check out the NBA when the playoffs start, much like I will when the NHL playoffs start. I'll catch a Bulls or Bucks game here or there but
the highlights on ESPN usually give me some frame of reference as to how the teams are playing and current storylines.

I have always been more interested in college sports than professsional ones. Maybe it was influence by where I grew up and there wasn't really a team to root for.

Agreed that March Madness is great theatre. I'm not a huge fan, but I can enjoy some occasional winter-weeknight college hoops now and then. I certainly don't think it's an evil athletic-industrial complex on the level of college football, so that helps. The NBA is better basketball at its best, but I worry about how much bad basketball they put out, too. I poke fun at the whole "da atmaspheer!!" thing, but in markets where the NBA competes directly with considerable NCAA programs (Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, et al), why would you pay NBA prices for a shitty night of stale promotions and dead-ass ball when you can go to a college game and actually have some fun?

no doubt the NBA has done everything in its power to destroy what could be a great game. game in game out you're going to see more grindiness in NCAA if that sort of thing floats your boat.

College basketball needs to be more like the NBA, like this:
