Man, that sounds good. Beef stew is way up there on my list of faves. I really miss it. I tried switching turnips for potatoes and they worked pretty good, except that they have no thickening properties, just less carbs. I have had NO LUCK with rice flour for gravy. Just the wrong consistency and taste. Also, I've no experience with wine sauces.

Would you tell me exactly how you do the gravy? I'd be much obliged.

Dairy and bread are both fine in moderation.

Certainly not on a level with sugar and processed foods.

Processed food isn't bad for you either. Frozen vegetables are also considered processed food.

Bad processed foods are bad for you just like bad fresh foods are bad for you.

The caveman diet is just another long line of fad diets that basically makes it harder to consume more calories while also encouraging people to eat fruits and vegetables and therefore you lose weight.

I could make a diet where you have to do a headstand after every bite of meat and it would have similar results.

Eat fruits and vegetables, be physically active, and consume less calories than you use in a day. That is it.

the body needs a certain level of salt, sugar, and protein. the key word "moderation" is the one that trips people up, because i don't think a lot of people know what it actually means to eat in moderation. a nutritionist would tell you, never eat until you are full. always leave some room. eat more often, smaller portions.

granola bars are processed. they're not bad for you. canned foods are worse for you, because of the high sodium content. my old roommate used to *only* eat frozen dinners...he was thin as a rail but his digestive system was completely fucked.

I can relate, W_Z....my last roommate DIED from complications stemming from his awful high carb, no exercise life style. His immune system was completely fucked. He was 53.

are frozen vegetables really processed , beyond simply freezing them ?

(not talking about those w/ sauces or ingredients beyond the actual vegetables)
