It's late. How come I don't see this thread here yet?

Dahl appears set to leave WCKG to host mornings on WJMK
October 26, 2007
BY ROBERT FEDER Sun-Times Columnist
As Steve Dahl approaches his 30th year on the air in Chicago, he's expected to change stations and time slots.
No one is supposed to know it yet, but sources say Dahl is poised to join WJMK-FM, the adult hits station called "Jack FM," as morning personality. Since the format has been airing with no disc jockeys, he would be the station's only on-air host.
Dahl, 52, who reportedly has more than three years left on his multimillion-dollar contract, said earlier this month that he has "the ability to decide whether or not I want to be moved." He still could change his mind, but sources say he has given his blessing to the new assignment.
Despite the dire fortunes of WCKG -- particularly since the departure of Howard Stern's syndicated morning show -- Dahl consistently has delivered ratings at or near the top of his target demographic.
In Arbitron's summer survey, Dahl ranked second among men between the ages of 25 and 54 with a 5.2 share. He was behind Spanish-language WOJO-FM (105.1) by one-tenth of a point.

I liked hearing music on 104.3, and I don't like Dahl. Not good for me.

what percentage of north's current listeners would make the switch to dahl? 50? 60%?

so, at least 2,500 listeners!

I'm not one of them, but I can't say I listen to North much anymore either.

Yesterday Dahl, the Sox season ticket holder, spent half an hour saying he had not interest in the world series, had no idea who Coco Crisp played for, thought the Colorado Rockies had been in existence for less than 5 years and was not going to watch the games. He sounds like a perfect host for the SCORE.

Dahl is just kind of playing out the string. He is occasionally funny, but, for the most part, all you get is stories about the life an aging, wealthy, suburban male who has almost no more vices. That doesn't make for good radio.

Actually, he sounds like your typical Sox fan.

It is very difficult to listen to North for more than ten minutes. But Dahl i can listen to for fifteen because he has five minutes of dead air for every fifteen minutes of airtime. I guess that makes them equally nauseating.

What a disaster for two strong signals to waste their airtime with these two bozos. Dahl spends half of his show talking about sports and he knows positively nothing about them. Ditto for North. He is lazy and boring. Ditto for North. At least North still drinks...advantage North.

Well, these guys will be battling for the bottom of the Arbitron ratings and it looks like an equal match. Count me out, I'll be listening to something else.

This news actually just prompted me to look at Q101 to see wat the hell they have been doing. "TheFix"

Now I never heard any of it, but they have "Jim Jesus" from the old Mancow Show as the Sports guy, so I am going to give it a shot.
