It's funny that B&b are constantly bashing college basketball and they obviously love the NBA, but every time I hear them talking about the NBA they're going on about how the games don't matter and seem to be making a strong argument that it's actually something that is absolutely terrible to watch.

I kinda think College regular season games suck. If you're even halfway decent, you get in the tournament.

This is more parsing what words mean. Illinois is a decent team and currently not in the tournament. Any team with a legitimate shot at a title gets into the tournament though.

Purdue has a game today that is bigger and more important than any regular season game the Bulls will play this year. If they win today they are in and if they lose they are going to require a few more wins to make the tournament.

According to B&B, the NBA regular season sucks, the first round sucks, the second round kinda sucks, all college basketball sucks, and all women's basketball sucks. Maybe basketball is only good in theory. It's a game too perfect for mere mortals.

See, but I dont think that's much different than the NBA. For teams around the 7,8,9 seed, the regular season games matter. Not for the higher seeds. Kinda the same thing with college.

I just dont think you can make a strong argument for college regular season when so much of the interest is tournament based

I like to see the game played at its highest level, which is why the NBA All-Star Game is the only basketball game I watch all year.

Well, of course any playoff race will have something meaningful, but most of those teams are basically .500 teams fighting to make it. Illinois is 18-11 and in big danger of not making it. My point is more than any halfway decent team won't make the ncaa tournament.

Kind of like baseball, a lot of the interest is based on regional and college ties. The tournament turns that into national interest.

If there were 150 NBA teams you'd see the same thing.

I appreciate his basketball nihilism but then, why watch? and why Twitter about it?

On the show yesterday Bernsie specifically said he will not watch. No reason too. WYC.

Goff and SPiegs discussed it but I was only half listening. Goff turned it into a try hard discussion. Meat said Bernsie was dragging Goff into the fray whatever.

This, exactly. It's just the B&B fall-back position that allows them to be lazy. The games don't matter so why pay attention and have a thought about it?

And if Dan even believed his own bullshit, he'd at least look to Mirotic's great play as a 'real thing' against 'real not-bums', and to a lesser extent how Noah looked a lot healthier/better.

Hopefully Goff shows an interest in the Bulls season and there's conversation today on the midday show. Tranny is going to be a trainwreck. It doesn't help that Spiegel can't help but harp on intangible 'joy' or whatever instead of maybe even getting Bernstein to think about the 'NBA stuff' he supposedly craves.

Spiegel: c'mon Bernsie, wasn't that fun?

Berns:  c'mon, no

Terry:  [whatever Bernstein said]

Goff:  oh, you guys both make me larf but I can't commit to either side, instead...grown ass dark skin toughness no panties something

Spiegel:  fine I'm ending transition now

Keep hearing from Dan and Terry about how regular season doesn't matter. Then I hear them yesterday talking about how shitty the Wizards have been and won't go anywhere in the playoffs. Terry talking about how the Cavs look like shit and probably aren't going anywhere in the playoffs. Obviously the regular season does matter.
