I am going to try the place Shakes mentioned.

First criteria, gotta have steak or pork. Keep your ground beef, pollo,, y sesos!

Second, gotta be able to get them TO GO! Part of the taco appeal is walking food.

Third, no kevlar needed at the location...

My top 3 right no...La Pasadita, Las Asadas and El Asadero

Always looking to try a new place...

So I guess C_Howitt_Fealz won't be able to suggest this cool little taco place in Khandahar.

Very good, been there many times, not better than the others, but would never be unhappy going there.

My knowledge of great places in the city is limited. My buddy used to live right by there. After a night of drinking, we would have the cab drop us off at Garcia's, and get some take out.

100% correct.

(but once a place is established, curiosity should lead you give a couple chicken tacos a spin, so long as the salsa verde is good)

It's the guy from Delish Diner and Picante on Division. The review on LTH indicated the opening wasn't very smooth.

If you're out west, there's a place called Chicks 'n salsa in Glen Ellyn, and a taqueria inside of the La Rosita supermercado on North Ave in, I think Glendale Heights. Both top notch.

Explains a ton.....

When it THE PA, not many gringos walking in, as it wasnt an inviting place, and while I enjoy the flour taco, they didnt have them...

and at la Pa, its how amny tacos you want? everything? OK $7....as it was just the onion cilantro mix, with cheese....

When I went in to Authentaco, you had 2 chicks, 3 girls all trying to orde tomatoes, guac, chips, sour cream....and the guy kept saying NO.....

Oh, suburbs are ok to list?
Then without question, Original Taco on 12 and Dundee, Palatine.
BEst goddamn drunk night burritos ever. SO awesome.
Never ordered Tacos there but DW gets them sometimes there and she loves em.

It's one of those nasty looking strip mall type joints. Like 4 tables. Horse Porn on the wall (just ask lipid, it's twoo it's twoo)
But so awesome. I think the same lady has worked there for like 20 years and I've never been there when she isn't so perhaps she lives there.

Los Burritos Tapatios is really good. They have places in Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Lisle, Downers Grove, and maybe a few others.

I'm not a fan of Garcia's. All Pasadita's are not created equal. I like Taqueria Uptown or La Choza on Clark. Rocky's is okay, but I usually get a torta or a huateque. Los Huaraches Dona Chia on Elmdale, fuckin' awesome. Homemade totillas. The Los Comales in Elgin is great, the one is Niles just okay. There are two Pueblitos about equidistant from my house. Both pretty good. La Palapita on Milwaukee and Hutchinson- flithy but great. Best chips you can find.

Except they do the flour tortillas w/ lettuce and tomatoes on the tacos. Corn tortillas w/ cilantro and onions, motherfuckers!
